Flash from the past: the Weekly Reader in school

I think we’d get it on Fridays

take it home over the weekend, and my mom let me order books from the bottom and back of it

take your money back in Monday. cheap too.

it was always a treat.

When I was in elementary they passed the Scholastic Book Club paper around every month and I’d get my mom to buy me a book. One of my favorites was “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” which is actually getting a movie adaptation soon that looks really good.

I remember at my elementary school if you read a certain amount of books, you would get a free mini pizza from Pizza Hut.

It was a good incentive to read a lot Haha!!

I liked Cam Jansen. It was about a kid who had a photographic memory and solved mysteries

My kids still get those

Cool! I had no idea they still did that program. I can’t recall what they called it.

I remember doing the reading list and wishing the school library had Stephen King books Ha!

That’s what they were called, personal pan pizzas. I think earlier I wrote “mini pizza.” LOL.

Yeah it is based on how many minutes they read per month. They want kids to read 20 minutes a day, it helps kids be better in school and expands the brain. My 8 year old is better than her siblings with reading she took after me and loves it. I download her a lot of books on kindle unlimited.

They getthe weekly reader, too
