First time using the catheter today

We got out 2200 cc’s! All at once. We measured and weighed it. A normal bladder can hold 300cc’s.

Apparently this is why my bladder is always in so much pain. It can no longer contract to let me know I have to pee. I just feel pain in my bladder 24/7. Bummer

I feel for you. I’ve had a physical ailment of a constricted throat for several years. Funny thing is it just got significantly better yesterday and the only thing I’m doing different is taking less Lexapro.

Glad you’re able to empty it now. Hope that helps you a lot. Try to do it iften and on a schedule if you haven’t done that.

I’m sorry you have to use a catheter to help pee. It’s too bad that your bladder doesn’t function well. Sending good vibes your way.

Sorry @LilyoftheValley - i know exactly how it feels. I had severe bladder pain because my bladder was too big and I had a lot of urinary infections.

For half a year I used a catheter. The first time I used it was very frightening, but I got used to it.

And there is hope, half a year after I used my catheter for the first time, I began to be able to pee a couple of drops without a catheter and I trained my bladder so well that I could skip the catheter after two months.

I still have occasional bladder pain, but no urinary infections anymore and I don’t need the catheter.

Wish you all the best-

Thanks @shutterbug

Wow @Jinx. That’s interesting

Thanks @green5

Yeah @anon4362788, I have to do it 4 times per day.

I’m so glad for you @bluebutterfly ! That’s great news.

100% of my bladder is precancerous with abnormal tissue. Did you have anything abnormal like that?

Sorry, i misunderstood you, - i had a problem with a big bladder, you the opposite.
Is it due to cancer? I hope not, but if the worst should happen - my stepfather lives fine without a bladder.

I had abnormalities in my bladder, but they were benign. My issue was urinary tract infection.

I hope you have the disposable one time catheter, they are very practical.

I have a large bladder too. It is floppy which is a good sign. My problem is that it no longer contracts on its own. So I don’t feel it when I have to pee, and I can’t get all the pee out when I do. Last night, we got over 2200 cc’s out of my bladder in one sitting. It was a ton of urine. Normal full bladders are 300cc’s when full enough that you can’t hold it in anymore. Does that all make sense to you @bluebutterfly ?

Absolutely, i had something similar. Perhaps you can train you bladder back to normal? I function well now and i got used to the pain. I began simply by trying to let the water pass more frequently. In the beginning i had to use the catheter to get the last of the urine out, but little by little i began to empty more and more by myself and finally i didn’t need the catheter anymore. Thank god.

I tried using a catheter recently. I like regular straws better, to be honest.
