Finding the need to take my pills a little earlier than usual

I try to space them out every twelve hours. I take half when i wake but finding they don’t seem to last 12 hours. For instance tonight I took my night meds after 11 hours. Feel fine now.

Maybe I should split them into three doses and take them every 8 hours.

It is seroquel and pregabalin.

As far as Seroquel goes, I did wonder for a while if it was effective because it is so short acting. But taking Seroquel in one go at night is fine. The antipsychotic effects lasts all day and it is not necessary to space it out.

I only take 300mg at night as 100mg at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm due to side effects.

Yeah I think it might be my pregabalin that doesn’t last the 12 hours. I think it is usually taken three times a day.

Yeah I have heard of pregabalin. I think it is used more in the UK. It might be a bit addictive. I’m not sure. I saw some video on youtube about people in the UK abusing it. It was weird.

Yeah I think it is a drug of abuse over here. At least so I have heard. Abusing pharmaceuticals isn’t my style though.

I didn’t find pregabalin addictive tbh

My nurse told me apparently folk on methadone take loads of gabapentin (the sister molecule) because it makes methadone feel like heroin.

Wow it is related to methadone. I didn’t know that. I don’t know much about it. I’ve never heard of it being used in Australia.

do you get weight gain on that jimbob?

Yeah it makes me really bloated day.

Don’t think it is related to methedone, just when added to it gives a buzz.

I just looked on the Chemist Warehouse website, an Australian chemist. They do sell Lyrica, which is pregabalin.

I have read reports that the gabapentinoids (neurontin and lyrica) might be the next benzo sin terms of drugs of abuse.

Are you sure the akathisia you get is from the Seroquel? Like does it occur right after you take it? For me the akathisa would start a while after I was taking 400mg in one go, and it would last for 30 to 40 minutes and then go away. When it was happening I couldn’t stop fidgeting, I had to keep changing the position of my body, I felt like I was going to die, and I had mental torture. I would be fine for the rest of the day when it stopped.

Drugs effect everyone differently though. That’s just what was happening to me. You may get a slighter amount of akathisia that lasts the whole day. For me with the Seroquel it was quite intense and short lived.

Yeah the akathisia comes on about 1 hour after taking the seroquel. Is really intense and at nights trying to sleep I end up banging my feet against the bed to get rid of the ‘itch’.

We are in the minority for getting akathisia from seroquel.

Yeah Seroquel is supposed to have like the lowest risk of akathisia out of all antipsychotics. I think am prone to getting from all of them though. I don’t get it anymore though the way I take the Seroquel now.

There is also restless leg syndrome from Seroquel, which is what you could be experiencing. But that is getting really technical about it. It would still basically be called akathisia probably.

I was not getting restless leg syndrome. It was like I described before. Interestingly the akathisia from the Seroquel was different to the akathisia I got from Clopixol. I didn’t know what was happening with the Seroquel for a long time and it wasn’t until it got really bad that I knew it was akathisia.

I could have restless leg syndrome. It just feels like a constant urge to walk about the room.

Yeah whatever you want to call it, it is bad. It if I hadn’t got it sorted out I probably would be changing the antipsychotic I take, because what I was experiencing was torture. It was just a bad form of akathisia, simple as that.

I wish I could still take 400mg in one go, but unfortunately I just can’t. I take 300mg in the way I have described before.
