Finding my humanity and my place in the world

Consider this rhetoric as I suspect I won’t say anything new… still it’s five AM and I’m bored.

So I’ve got some really good friendships growing… I have an increasingly easier and fulfilling job…

I want to describe the place I work to give you all a feel. It’s a grocery store that isn’t part of any franchise or larger company beyond those that coordinate it’s standards so that it can legally operate. The owner is walking around in there on most days and actually working… Still the place is cheap, almost like a warehouse. Cement floors and shelves made of steel… on top of each one lays a bunch of the back stock and other things that needed storing. Tables and whatnot…

My favorite part is the underbelly… all the departments are connected through a hallway in the back… It just feels industrious and real back there. There are a lot of older characters working in different places and the way they communicate is so simple and consistent… It’s just kind of fun to reflect on… Like it’s the perfect place for a scene in a movie.

The industrious side of it would typically be depressing because industry is typically cold and impersonal to the degree that it literally makes me lose my sense of humanity and power over myself as it makes me realize I am just a working cog. Here though it’s different. The managers are present but there is virtually no micro-managing at all… A good friend of mine runs the department I work in which makes it even more personal…

It’s amazing to see how all the normal and free humans and all the cheap products and menial labor come together to make a very professional store-front… This place has a bit of everything in it including a very extensive foreign foods section… The people are nice and the deli is filled with beautiful women… hah it’s a great place… working really can be uplifting if you find the right conditions…

Wow… motivation and sense of why I’m typing this just died. But with work I’ve got a good sense of how my next year is going to unfold… I’m going to set up my retirement fund and work on developing video games and doing whatever else in my free time… the core of it is just work though… work all around…

they say that if you really want to get ahead you don’t do it while you are at work… it’s what you do in your free time that counts… it isn’t 9 to 5 that matters… is 5 to 9 when you can really push out and utilize the time you have to shape your future…

anyways I’m peaceing out so I can get my head buzzed back into line.
