Feminism thread

@GoldenRex mentioned feminism in another thread and I thought I’d give the topic its due attention.

To me, feminism from a male perspective is not going up to random women and saying “I believe you’re equal”. It’s more like not even seeing women as inferior in the first place. If we could just honor the woman inside of our own psyches, we wouldn’t disqualify women in the outer world.

Wow, that’s deep. I really shoveled down and stuck a treasure chest there.

If we changed the title to “porn discussion thread” we might get more people…

Just kidding.

JOANNA ANGEL!!

That was her name!

YES, I haven’t smoked my memory away, completely.

Now I just have to remember the red head and then I can find the article…

I define feminism as a movement with the goal of achieving equality of the sexes. For example, equal pay for equal work is a goal of feminism.

This definition is deep and right,

Thank you

I agree.

I also see feminism as women not being defined by our ability to facilitate sex.

Its an easy concept, but endlessly difficult for society to see past.

In some ways its evolution,

In others, its bigotry.

I don’t even know and I’m a pretty hardcore feminist.

Ive always seen all humans as equals… so having to watch individual groups of people band together get loud and demand equality is painful… we were all born human… and remain human despite our differences why does it have to be this way… and the pace is dreadfully slow…

Fun fact: if you say “feminism” into a mirror three times, my face appears.

Im all for feminism, I studied feminist and gender theory…the third wave feminism is most about intersectionism…because you can’t just state that “all women are oppressed”, there is always various factors in the game…

Also, I hugely dislike every form of radicalism, and radical feminism. These days world just looks like it lost a sense of humor, forever.

So I had been feminist too,

@Leaf reminded me of this when she was talking about how everyone expects so much of her.

It’s kind of long, but I promise it’s worth reading the entire thing.

Feminism is one of my favorite things to discuss! And as @Sarad said, there is different kinds of feminism. I believe all feminism should be intersectional or else it’s not feminism at all.

The worst is what people call ‘white feminism’ because it focuses on the ‘struggles’ of white woman while failing to address distinct forms of oppression often faced by WOC, trans woman, and disabled woman.

My type of feminism is about genital mutilations in many countries and the fact that woman in many places around the world don’t have a right to an education. It is to protect queer youth that get harassed and teased just like I did. It’s fighting so woman like me don’t need to be instinctually scared of a group of boys walking behind them.

Some men really hate the ‘F’ word, but let me assure you that as a feminist I fight for equal rights, and that means both sides. I fight for the right of baby change tables in men’s bathrooms, for paternity leave for men, to end toxic masculinity so boys can feel emotion and do what they feel without being called a ‘bitch, pussy, girl, pansy’ to end domestic abuse towards men that always gets brushed under the rug.

I could talk about this forever and ever, but I’ll just leave with this. Have you noticed how a girl can dress like a boy and it’s fine and not questioned? We can act macho and tough if we want and nobody would stop us. A girl wearing a tux isn’t anything strange, yet a boy wearing a dress is considered hilarious. Everyone would tease a boy, shame the boy wearing the dress. Now can you think of words that boy might be called? 'Little bitch, pansy, pussy, sissy, girl ’ this is because for a boy the most shameful insult is about being a girl, since we’re seen as weak and emotional.

In my perfect world, girls could become CEO’s easier and boys could wear dresses or makeup without feeling shame (also they can wear it if they aren’t gay, makeup doesn’t have gender or sexual orientation) girls would never be called bossy while they’re young, and the saying ‘boys will be boys’ will be eradicated. Boys will not be boys, boys will be held responsible for their actions. There would be no gender section for toys. And a whole bunch of other fun stuff.

That’s enough rambling for now I guess.

Women’s ability to facilitate sex? Do both genders not have that ability? What angle were you coming at with that?
