Feeling torn about my job

My new job is easy and a lot less stress but they’re only scheduling me 13 hours.

On top of that if I leave it will be a while before I can qualify for a mortgage, which was my goal this year but I don’t know if it’s super feasible even staying at my old job.

Old job is more stressful but I’ve been doing it for 7 years now so I know the job really well, and it’s less stressful in that way.

I’m currently working both but today is supposed to be my last day at my old job. It’s not too late to say never mind I’m staying.

Congrats on being able to work.

I saw a video today that said ‘no work, no food ‘.

Supposedly everyone is able to work.

Good luck whatever you may decide.

Congratulations on being able to work.

Could you maybe look for a less stressful full time job whilst at the pet store? Instead of staying at the coffee shop.

@Jonathan2 @Zoe

While I can work super part time, definitely can’t do full time. Lately I’ve been doing 20 hours between the two jobs and I’ve been having symptoms like crazy.

I am lucky I can work at all but ideally I would be doing 12 hrs or less, but financially I have no choice but to do 15 hrs (my usual)

13 hours seems pretty close to 15 hours.

Maybe when you’re settled in you can ask if you can do a bit more.

It ends up being an extra day or working with how I have to work 6 hour shifts or less, they usually give me 4-5 hr shifts, so yeah it’s not far away but is another day for me.

I just don’t know which job would be best for my long term goals

I think you have to start with knowing yourself.

Do you prefer working with pets in a low pace environment or do you prefer working in a fast paced more social environment?

Go with your gut

Okay sorry I assumed you were working full time at the coffee place. Because you mentioned something about mortgage. So I assumed you were hoping full time at pet store.

Yea looks like it might be better to stick to the pet one but good to go with your gut as @POET said.

And maybe look for something with the hours you prefer in the mean time.

I just started a kitchen assistant job. It’s super stressful but I think in 2 or 3 weeks it might be more relaxing
Maybe that could be the case for you too? Unless you can’t afford to go through that initial stress due to mental health,

good advice @Zoe ! i think the first few days/weeks are usually the most stressful. After the learning curve im sure itll be smooth sailing

It’s a little more complex than that… the coffee place has more sensory stress for sure, more social yeah, but I have a script for most things there by now so it doesn’t stress me out too bad with socializing. But it also has paid vacation and sick hours and my new job doesn’t have that. Plus I can ride the bus to the coffee place easier than I can drive it, and that works in my favor usually, I enjoy riding the bus during daylight hrs at least. They also pay for my Spotify and 20 Lyft rides a month to work.

New job has no benefits, and they’re only scheduling me 13 hrs with less pay. But I feel like I’m fitting in naturally because everyone there has as many pets as I do or more. I am pretty comfortable with some things that normally take people time when they start there, like giving hamsters medicine. It’s less stressful if I do cashiering. But I’m worried about having enough money with the pay cut and hours cut

Do you have job specialists where you are to help you find a better suited job?

I mean free of charge job specialists, they can actually be helpful sometimes

Those 2 jobs, They both don’t seem to be very suitable for you for the long run, idk…

There really aren’t any jobs suited for me, according to my ssdi hearing specialist

Did you get to keep your ssdi?

I work from home so the environment has been made to be peaceful as possible

Never going to travel to somewhere like I used too

These days don’t like leaving my home that often

If you can find something like that you can try and keep things calm and as stress free as possible
