Been messed up for a while about not having anywhere to live, but having the money. The country I live in, Canada, has inflation and housing crisis, plus opioid and mental health crisis. Feel like its a bit too expensive and hard to survive than it should be. So many people are struggling to survive in a place intolerant of not working, but basic jobs will not feed and house you, and actual bluecollar jobs that produce products like houses have been made scarce by whitecollar jobs that im unsure make anything of value, but you need to graduate from a college program. Thats recipe for inflation nobody making stuff but having high pay jobs pushing paper. People just need to make stuff, and when there is more stuff than money, money is worth more. Buy more stuff with less money. And making stuff in theory takes less studying, and mental stress etc.
oh I hope you find somewhere to live !! how awful.
Im working on getting a place but have spent thousands on short term rentals
You are not wrong. The living cost in canada is haywire. You pretty much need 2 peoples incomes to survive if your median wage. If your below that in a major city your kinda screwed, room share will be the only way and even thats getting pricey.
Min wage should be around 35/hr to make up for the increased costs.
Still doesnt put a dent in real estate in major areas.
In the early days single family homes were to create jobs. Then they ended up getting turned into investments. Thats where it all went wrong.
Hard to walk it back though.
I was really feeling it about six months ago, dropped everything and ran. There was no point working so hard for the life i was living
Yeah its tricky. The real estate market being unattainable for most young adults almost disincentavizes trying to earn a “higher wage” like even if you make 90k it still doesnt work to buy a place.
The government needs some real expansion with affordable housing but it shouldnt be limited to an entire household earning of 58k or less… bump that up to 65k per person. Then were getting somewhere. Cap the rent cost and dont allow investors of any kind.
Like a bunch of big towers with community park spaces.
Anyway dont give up, you just may have to do room share or something just a matter of finding decent people to do that with.
Social darwinists must have been the planners for the last generation
