I frequently see this in my WIFI list. “FBI Van”. I know damn well it’s some idiot who thinks it’s really hilarious to make paranoid people more paranoid. I read on the internet that WIFI’s like this are common.
It has made me slightly paranoid before when I was less stable.
I don’t personally find it amusing to scare people into thinking the FBI is around watching them.
If I could get law enforcement to get them for impersonating an FBI agent, I would. Unfortunately, it probably doesn’t qualify and I wouldnt know who to contact anyway.
I may just be in a pissy mood, but I am not amused.
I personally don’t mind it much. I know it’s a joke so I don’t worry. My partner is going to name ours New England Clam Router or something fun like that.
I see how it could be triggering to others though.
My dad put this as our wifi to kinda joke with his older brother who is actually an FBI agent. I don’t think it’s anything malicious or doing it to target us schizophrenics, but more pedos and criminals.
You all are welcome to have your opinions. But in order for it to be a joke, it has to be funny. I don’t see how it is. The entire purpose of making a wifi this name is to try to scare people, IMO. It’s not a clever name like @bittercat 's .
Probably 50% of schizophrenics have had the delusion of being targeted by one organization or another. It annoys me.
Of course, I have been sick the last 3 days, so it may just be my patience wearing thin. I may just be a bit grumpy.
In my list it appears and disappears frequently too. Which makes it appear like the van is sometimes their and sometimes not. Making it seem more realistic when you are not stable.
just remeber an FBI Van wouldnt label their internet FBI Van haha. unless maybe thats what they want us to think. nvm im gonna shut up now . im 98% sure its a joke.
Yes, I’m quite sure it’s not real, but remember people that feel they are being targeted expect harassment from those targeting them. So they might think the FBI is deliberately letting them know that they are being watched.
