An odd occurence in the nieghborhood. A non-incident

Last night my computer wouldn’t let me online. The WiFI here goes out frequently but sometimes the problem is with my own computer. So I had the password so I clicked on my “Network function” and I tried to enter the password. I know very little about computers but I can do some stuff.

A screen came up with a list of people and businesses near me who have WiFi. I don’t know why it listed surrounding locations but I recognized them. The hot dog place around the corner was listed. My neighbors were listed. The 7-11 was listed. And a dozen other people and businesses were listed. Each place had something that said said WiFi secured.

But one of the places, (I swear to god) said “FBI van” with some numbers after it. WTH? I freaked out as you can imagine. What’s an FBI van doing cruising around the neighborhood for, lol? The schizophrenics worst enemy is the FBI and the CIA. I only got a little paranoid. Not a lot. But being schizophrenic it touched a nerve and I was a little taken aback. My delusions have never been about the FBI but it was just so weird, lol.

You can name the wifi to whatever. Some people think is funny or get kick out of naming there’s after a FBI or NSA ban or the like is not the real thing. We had one of the apts in the block before I moved to the house called NSA sirvenlance van 3 spelled just like that!

Is most likey someone thinking calling the wifi that is funny or cool

OK, thanks. That must be it. I thought the whole thing was funny.

My wifi used to be called something similar. It’s just a bit of humor. I doubt a real FBI van would be labeled as such

Back when I was in my schizo delusions peak… I decided to stop by some traffic cops, ‘’ I told them I was hearing people talking to my head and every time I try read a book, they complain. So I blankly ask them, ‘’ do you hear my voice in you head?’’ the cop just looked at me and asked if that was my car, I said yes, he then walked to the car, looked at the insurance, then asked me for my driving licence… next thing I know, I was in a police station under expired insurance and no driving licence charge lol  Luckily, a few calls got me out. Sad thing about it… he never did tell me if he could hear my voice in his head lol

Once I was outside smoking a CIG…a black van stopped at the stop sign…and I got a new WiFi network called" this is not the fbi" …I loled…my neighbors is called CIA use only ■■■■ off…lol

In France someone was nearly jailed for their wifi name.

FBI would never name their router that, doubt they would want anyone to know they are around. I name mine with a odd name, but nothing that would encourage someone to try to hack it.

You may be giving the FBI too much credit lol…that’s a joke…our drug task force van puts out a WiFi called x.county d.taskforce…

77nick77, this is an old hacker trick…

if you don’t want people watching your internet or hijacking it I’ve known people to say that their wifi is like FBI or DEA or something like that. It just scares away hackers that may take advantage of your wifi.

I disagree…and agree with @Mountainman I think it only encourages hacking…and a decent password would discourage it more proper like…
