Experience with quitting Invega

i skipped my shot this month and plan on getting the go ahead to stop my shot on Monday. I really have a problem with the side effects. Low energy, no motivation, sexual. Apathy, no enjoyment of things.

Keep in mind I have Abilify, as well. Adding that seemed to help me and I’m not seekng to bash Invega because it helped me with psychosis and delusion. What I am interested in is stories of what it was like to quit.

Currently, thanks to Abilify, I have noticed none of my normal symptoms when my shot wore off. Anyone else see an improvement in negatives when going off the shot and moving to a single pill?

Again, no bashing, please.

I’ve never come of Invega,

But switching medications in general is tough.

I think you can expect things to get a little wonky before they get better,

Its just natural for your body to go through some kind of withdrawals.

Are you seeing your doctor soon to at least see what to expect?

See him Monday. He’ll probably try to keep me on it. I’m just done with the negatives caused by the med.

Stick to your guns and don’t let them convince you to go back on,

You’ve felt like this medication has been holding you back for a long time.

I hope the abilify alone really helps and gets your negatives under control.

I’m on abilify and don’t struggle too much with negative symptoms.

I just feel more clear now. With the shot I feel like a lump.

I’m on Invega and I have those side effects, as well. I haven’t tried coming off of Invega and likely won’t anytime soon. But I hope that you can get some relief. Those side effects are not easy to deal with.

I had the same problems with the Invega shot. After years of taking it my symptoms returned and I had to switch meds. Shortly after stopping all of those side effects went away.

I might be coming off it too. I see my psychiatrist next week about a med switch cause I’ve had an allergic reaction and very high prolactin. I’m also very interested to know.

How many years did you take invega that your symptoms return ? Did u up the those why switched meds …I am concerned as I take invega and don’t want it ever to be ineffective

I’d be interested to hear how you go @anon4362788 with withdrawals. Good luck with it.

I’m afraid I can’t comment on Invenga. I’m on lurasidone, I think they’re in the the same group of atypical ap’s. I feel very enraged a lot of the time and still have psychotic symptoms. The rage makes it hard for me to do my job (I don’t want to yell at a customer or a colleague) & protect my reputation.

My main concern with lurasidone is the fear that it will kill me with obesity and diabetes. Since I feel no benefit on lurasidone I am seriously questioning the value in being on it. I really miss a lots of foods that I’ve cut out of my diet to help cholesterol, obesity & diabetes concerns. Food is one of the few pleasures in my life.

I personally have no idea how depot withdrawals work.

Hope everything goes okay @anon4362788

I took it for three and a half years. I was already taking 234mg when I started to relapse so I couldn’t go up on the dose.

Hey @anon4362788

Are you new to meds? All of those crappy feelings (the size effects you listed in your first post) wore off of me after a few. Years…

I’m thinking your somewhat new to meds… idk…

I’m not willing to go on like this for years.

Tell your doctor you can’t tolerate it anymore…the negative effects did not get any better for me over time. I’m so glad to be free from it.

I tried to go off of Invega before to switch to Ability only. It didn’t work out, partly because my doc didn’t wean me off of of the shot slowly by gradually reducing the dosage. I ended back on Invega to avoid a relapse and hospitalization.
