Experience on seroquel

Hi all. Im thinking of switching to serowuel because i took it in the hospital and didnt feel like ■■■■ on it. I didnt have any negative symptoms no cognitive decline or nothing. Its possible this is because i only took it for 2 weeks but also possible its because it dosnt do that type of thing to me. So im asking what have ppls experiences been on seroquel. Did it make you feel like ■■■■? Were you experiencing negative symptoms on it? Any cognitive decline?

Let me know your experience thanks.

I took it at night for a while. Definitely helped me sleep at night.
I had to stop taking it cause it raised my blood sugar. Be careful if you’re diabetic.

Besides raising blood sugar didbyou get other symptoms. Did it give you lack of motivation and loss of emotion?

No. I didn’t experience any negs, but I don’t on other meds either.
I got used to the sedation.

I put on 100 lbs in 2 years on Seroquel …I never felt full after eating. I slept great on it, tho…

It made me feel anxious and raised by blood pressure.

@WhiteRaven did you experience negative symptoms on it? Did you experience lack of motivation and trouble concentrating.

I’ve been taking large doses of Geodon and Seroquel for a long time. They do me right. Some people find Seroquel too sedating, but I don’t have that problem with it. I didn’t think it was doing anything to me until I didn’t get it for five days. I was a little more jittery than I cared to be.

I took it for years at a very high dose (1200mg a day) and it was ok. I gained a lot of weight on it, but ive gained weight on all APs. I would get breakthrough episodes, some negative symptoms, but not often. Rexulti is what ive been taking for the past 4 years and it has been the best treatment for me. And theres no drowsiness.

I’m just gearing up on Seroquel now, from 75 mg a day to 150 mg per day. Then my doctor and I will consider where to go from there. She said she was comfortable going up as high as 300 mg per day, but not beyond that. I’m not sure what her reasoning is.

As far as side effects, I’ve experienced none.

Been on it for years 25mg x2 (for psychotic anxiety) day , which i dont always take - and 300mg at night.

If im ill (like environmental factors have done my nut in) i will go upto 600mg.

Soon as i take the night dose - im asleep for 12hours within the hour.

Just dont ever drink alcohol on it - cos you will have the worst hangover ever.

Its a god-send for me.

I used to take Seroquel. I still had negative symptoms while taking it. I felt pretty good. It made me drowsy.

I had terrible side effects on it. Sedation, dizziness, fast heartbeat, blocked nose, trouble swallowing, and the worst akathisia ever. I couldn’t tolerate it at all so I got my pdoc to put me on something else.

Sounds like a lot of you had a good experience on seroqiel. So since you guys got good reaction on it does that mean your working and living a pretty normal life.

I am taking Seroquel. It definitely makes my delusions less severe and some delusions are gone, entirely. I still have hallucinations on Seroquel, but not very many, as compared to before.

Seroquel did cause me to gain 17 pounds, almost instantly, when I got to 800mg. I am trying to watch what I eat, now, as I don’t want to gain more weight. I’m actually down by 7 pounds, now. Just need to get rid of the remaining 10, somehow.

I have no libido. In fact, my “lady parts” hardly have any feeling at all. So, I have very bad sexual dysfunction.

I do still have negative symptoms. Although, most of the time, I am still able to work on my hobby (knitting & crocheting). But there are times, like yesterday and today, that I can’t even do things that I normally enjoy. I am overwhelmed by everything.

Sadly, Seroquel made my cognitive functioning worse than before Seroquel. For many years, I have had minor memory problems. Just kind of a nuisance. But nowadays, I can’t remember any details of the previous day, let alone a week ago. Hubby tells me the same things like 20 different times, and every time, it’s like new information for me.

OVERALL: I am happy to be on Seroquel. It keeps the hallucinations to a minimum. Most delusions are gone. I would rather be more sane and unable to do some things, than be out of my frickin’ mind and messing up my life.

It didn’t help me enough

I never worked while on any meds. I quit my job in 2012 then got put on meds in 2015. I guess my life became pretty normal besides not working when I was taking my meds. Every year I’d go off them thinking I was cured and then end up back in the psych ward so in 2019 I asked one of my psychiatrists to switch me from Seroquel to Invega Sustenna injections and I was able to get stable but I still have negative symptoms. My life is normal except for the fact that I don’t work.
