Exactly 30 years ago I flew to America

I went to study in Michigan at one business school. I never thought that I would spend next 13 years in America, never thought that I would marry in the USA, things just went in that way. Well it was quite a journey. I never became the US citizen although twice I received the citizenship applications, I suppose I thought that I did not need to become the US citizen. A life just went in that way.

I remember when I bought a book at the JFK airport, depression, a couple of people traveling with me thought that it was about psychological depression, but it was not, it was about economic depression, LOL, now they are talking about global economic depression, maybe it never comes, I still remember the financial crisis of 2008-9 and how the US government helped banks and Wall Street to recover and not to fall to the deeper economic crisis.

During my stay at the business school I wrote a good research paper about the Soviet economy in 1989, during my years in America I kept this paper stored and never really used it until 1999, 10 years after when I became interested in Russia’s economy, it was on its bottom in 1999 and oligarchs ruled, but then Putin came and stopped the rule and power of oligarch, and the rest of the story can be read on the net.

The financial crisis affected me. That’s when I got sick. I do wish I could go back to before then and get a doover.
