I way overspend and am struggling to get by in the following months so this year the kids and I decided to do a ticket pull. So we each pull a ticket with someone’s name on it and we buy that person a $25-30 gift. I’ll do some cheap stocking stuffers. Socks and candy. And no turkey dinner. Probably finger foods. My kids aren’t big into Christmas.
Sounds like a good plan.
I never was that much into turkey. I would rather have pizza.
Sounds like a solid plan as Christmas is more about spending time with family and spreading good will on Earth.
I’m probably going to buy my family’s gifts from Amazon and Wal-Mart, in a similar price range to yours.
That’s a great idea.
Christmas is so expensive.
I actually started buying Christmas gifts in February and buy a little every now and then but I buy things from second hand shops as Christmas gifts.
I found great Christmas gifts at the second hand shop.
I bought some new gifts too like a pair of bamboo undies.
I have mixed feelings about Christmas.
I look forward to it and love it but it’s difficult too with so many people and my difficulties socially and last year I left in the middle of dinner because the socialising was to much for me.
I buy Christmas gifts through our the year on sale, of course I have a small family so it’s not too bad.
I’m going to buy the grandbabies each one toy and give cards with hand written notes to everyone else. That’s it. I’m not going broke this year either. I think I’ll make Mexican food for Christmas dinner lol.
oh Christmas !! yayyyy…we only get money for presents and then splurge at the grocery store for a month or so…
That’s a really good idea, @Leaf. I might just buy some toys for my nephew and a shirt or CD for my mom.
No point in breaking the bank. That’s not what Christmas is about anyways.
Sounds a great idea. We just give $5 scratchie tickets. Everyone buys one and we put them in a box and draw one each. Any youngones get spoiled but for us oldies it’s about getting together and having some good food and conversation.
My family is getting my fondest wishes for X-mas this year and nothing else. Especially nothing that has to be packed for a move.
Oh man, I have a bunch of fall birthday people to buy gifts for, haven’t even thought about Christmas presents yet lol
Now that we’re adults my brothers and I usually get a Christmas present in the form of a paid dinner to Outback Steakhouse. I usually get surf and turf, 9 oz. Outback Special with Coconut Shrimp.
