You are in the middle
Improving emotional intelligence may bring success in life. You can consider sharpening your awareness of emotions, thoughts, and feelings. In addition, you may need to improve your empathy, compassion, and communication. With some work, you can boost your self-understanding and be attuned to the emotions of others.

  1. What to Know
If a person wants to do well in a work environment, higher emotional intelligence can help. People with healthy EI make good decisions and communicate effectively; they are promoted more readily.

EI is associated with academic success; students with high EI have good time management skills and are less likely to be overwhelmed by assignments and exams.

Healthier relationships also have a foundation of healthy EI, this skill helps people to communicate their needs as well as hear out the needs of others.

Higher emotional intelligence is also linked with better health and well-being; good EI can protect you from mental health disorders, namely anxiety and depression.

During conflict, people with healthy emotional intelligence manage their emotions by turning down the heat of tension, listening, as well as resolving disputes constructively.

  1. Make Change Now

Reframe your feelings.
A different, more positive perspective can help. Negative emotions are transient, and the feelings you ascribe to them can be changed. We have a tendency to think the worst about a situation.

Be more mindful.
Mindfulness can boost your self-awareness. Being in the moment can help a person become detached from the negativity surrounding a charged emotion.

Cultivate empathy and compassion.
Be kind toward yourself and others. Look at situations from different angles, and accept your emotions and those of others

I don’t put too much stock in these online tests but they are definitely fun to do when I am bored. I will have to do this one and see what I get.

Its definitely improved over the years, ever since 2011 when i had my med change things have been improving bit by bit, i’m now rediagnosed with a personality disorder so i think thats an improvement.

I have always been over sensitive but at one point when i was on risperidal i was suffering from blunt effect and my brain was completely subdued, i felt like a complete zombie with no emotions or feelings, it wasnt a good way to be, so very glad it improved.

I only scored 70. But I’m starting a therapy program to help me manage my emotions better. I’m learning more than that in the program but that’s a huge component of it.

I don’t yell at others or anything like that. Instead my emotions turn inward against myself

@An_the-c-ology , I endured severe abuse and neglect my whole childhood and 15 years of an abusive marriage. I do have things that can be worked on and improved

Ok I too have if I try to recollect those moments.

But hey how are you right now is more important.

You know every time I go to a psychologist they let me roll my emotions out and finally give me tasks to do.

And in the end the last psychologist told me end my life !

Weird psychologist!

But if it was a critical plan he did and it did work out.

Now I am alive and living well.

Your therapist told you to end your life?!?! That therapist should not be working in mental health at all

I have complex issues due to constant abuse and control. So I became very sensitive about my emotions and not able to relax myself.

So my emotional intelligence is poor. I am learning how to control anger, panic or memory loss or addiction.

There are still no signs of improvement but hoping I can be better in future.
