Hello everybody. Does anyone came off sucesfully off antypsichotic medication and how long did the process durated from starting of remmison forward. Did you stop cold turkey or did you taper and how long did it take you to do that.
I tried coming off meds once. I was off meds for 2 years. I was barely functioning during those 2 years. Then I just ended up psychotic in hospital.
I’ve been on meds ever since and will be forever. Generally speaking this is the way it goes for most people.
Come off meds-> coast for a while -> crash and burn 
What is your diagnosis? Is it sz? How long did you been psychotic while you were in acute phase of disease?
I have come off the drugs twice now, and both times ended in hospitalisation.
I don’t even see a psychiatrist unless I ask to change meds or end up in hospital.
It seems where I live you just find the ‘right’ meds for you then that’s it for life.
I have been taking high doses of these drugs now for four years and there doesn’t seem like any prospect to come off them without negative consequences.
I’m diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. The first time I was psychotic for about 3 months in hospital.
I’m taking my meds for 3 years now. I’ve been simptom free for this years. Now I’ll be going medication free but I’m a bit afraid of that. Is the full recovery to be off meds for life possible???
It is posible. I believe it is. There difference between schizoprenia and
schizotypal personality disorder. How ling did you were psychotic?
