Finally the time has arrived. I’m being taken off the antipsychotic gradually. Took this long to even get to a pdoc. Been on it 7 years now. Have tried to get off it a few times. But at least this time I’ll be on mood stabilisers as moods were effected every time I attempted getting of them
my abilify/zyprexa combo is a part of me now
anyway goodluck
Abilify seems to look after my mood swings, it has been years for you, so will be good I guess to test what works best for you.
Yeh me too, Abilify helps my major mood swings!
You may need to go on another mood stabilizer @anon80629714
Abilify has strong mood stabilizing properties even at 5mg - it just won’t be an effective Antipsychotic at this low dose.
Go real slow.
This. When I went off Abilify I went into one of my worst depressive episode in years and actually harmed myself and had to do a hospitalization program. It wasn’t working very well as an AP so I assumed it wasn’t doing anything when in reality it was very much stabilizing my mood. Be careful.
Those hospitalization programs are terrible.
I’ve never felt so singled out and stigmatized as I did when I went to an aftercare program.
im sorry you had to go through that
Mine wasn’t so bad. There were good and lame things about it. Honestly I needed it because it got me back on meds again at the time and helped stabilize me.
I will never go back. They were so cold and callous. The doctor was this little foreign man with a strange mole who spoke like a bad guy from a James Bond movie. The nurse was a complete and total head case and on meds herself. She was emotionally abusive with the cruel remarks she made.
The sad thing is, that if you check into any reputable hospital they will send you to one of these programs.
So people like me who need occasional stabilization tend to avoid getting help for fear of ending up back in one of these programs
I remember when I started going to this one clinic they put me on fanapt and refused to take me off of it even thought it was tearing up my stomach. its good you have a pdoc who is willing to work with you.
Yea but only to a point. Every time I bring up stopping the latuda (which is what I take)
I get the old, that’s not gonna be a good idea speech.
Sorry about your experience with fanapt.
That’s one I’ve never tried.
the fanapt made me go to the bathroom quite a bit and throwing up several times a day. I was admitted to the they thought I had crohns
Wow that’s hard, I’m sorry you had that experience. One of the therapists at my program was really bad, she never did anything when she ran group and had us play games like kids in camp. She also basically laughed at all the things the therapy taught and said it didn’t work.
Everyone else was pretty nice and decent though. The doctor was definitely firm but he listened to my concerns regarding medication and was nice overall.
