I’m looking forward to it, last week was my first lesson & we practiced some seven nation army & a bit of ghost busters,
It was also very cheap as it is a music charity, I had to wear ear defenders though bc i get a bit overwhelmed if its too loud & my brain gets fried.
The White Stripes is a great band.
My Drum lessons went really well today, i loved it, we did acdc back in black & ghostbusters, I got a little cramp near the end of the session in my left buttock and i told the girl my posture is bad so she was tryin to explain what could be helpful,
I’m going to sign up for more sessions, they are very cheap and they are so much fun.
we did a very simple version of this but i struggled with it a little, i did ok for a second lesson though.
@Voithos can you change the topic of this thread to just Drum lessons
I took another drum lesson today i applied for a block of 8 and 7 were left so i had the first of 7 lessons, we were learning ‘where is my mind’ by the pixies and i was struggling a bit, i was sort of zoning out a bit here & there but i still enjoyed it,
I just need more practice, its getting use to the different movements and co-ordinating, I asked for a song by the band ‘cage the elephant’
Its hard to think of songs on the spot like that, i might need to research good songs for beginner drums,
I think Orion-Metallica is a great song for drums… but maybe more for intermediate level.
Maybe it’s a good challenge!
Can you practise drums at home?
Good question, I cant bc i have a tiny flat, but i was told today i can pay £6ph at a studio, & they have a practice area & a proper studio.
My cuz has some drums as well but I’m a bit scared of asking him for some time on them, idk why. there was a bass player there today hoping to join a band at some point.
Today i was loving the drums, we did multiple fills and i loved it, it was my best yet (i think) my 4th session
Nooooo don’t get hooked to the fills! A great drummer is the one that fills a little… and grooves a lot!
That’s awesome, @daydreamer!!! If I ever had room for the drums, I wouldn’t hesitate to get a set. Good on you for doing the lessons and all.
if i get a Drum kit i will probably want to mic it up lol, the kit i was on today was a pro kit actually it was pretty beaten up but great fun & sounded awesome.
I played some simple beats & played around with the fills, we also did Dani California (it was pushing my new abilities to the max)
I’m a bit down now though bc my drum fixation will have to be on hold for 2 weeks but i’m going to book more lessons i think i get the best drums because i give then a donation
Those electric drum kits have headphones. I had a set for the xbox years ago, but sold it at a profit and they sound like real drums to the ear.
On the xbox you could learn using a game to tap to. I don’t know if you could arrange that or something.
I saw some on fb marketplace. I don’t have the space for it though. It does interest me however.

Do you have a tablet and then you can use an app really easily?
Thanks man, I’ll have a look,
My cuz is a pro drummer and he has an electronic drum kit worth over 5k.
The app could be interesting.
Hey @labratmat the facebook market place is full of scammers man i had a look & i dont trust any of the ads
@Happy_H I was thinking about doing a shout out on my community page asking if anyone had any drums i could jam on? i thought maybe someone might have a garage & drums.
@dreamer54 I was trying to Improvise today, it wasnt a lesson but it was a jam session so there was 4 of us, a Bass, Electric & acoustic guitar so i turned up and tried to jam along on the drums but i said i dont really know what i am doing as i only had 4or 5 lessons & i’ve never jammed before,
I just sort of tried to tap along to the beat in different ways, so i jammed for 30 min then had a cup of tea then did another 15min, it was pretty cool
Did you enjoy the jam?
I did but i lost a bit of confidence, I enjoyed it but the other guys were way better than me, i felt a bit out of my depth but they were like telling me to just have fun but i said i didn’t want to spoil it for them, so i tried to stay in time and with the beat. i need more lessons bc I’m still a beginner.
Be grateful for that experience. Its unique and awesome. If they were better than you, you truly learned something.
The guy on the electric guitar was wanting to upskill his music theory, the guy on bass was jamming but he’s looking to upskill his drumming, I just wanted to Drum but I was looking at the Bass guitar as well.
