Tbh the most important thing to look for with other people is deep listening, communication and learning to not be anxious and have fun.
You could try to repeat a phrase from the other guy, or respond. That’s super cool

Its a music charity so i cant pick my own times,
my lessons are cut at the moment for 13 days (i have 5 sessions left in that Block but i booked another block of 8 sessions. the jam sessions are every Thursday until mid Dec i think & i don’t need to book them, (for some reason i thought it would be busy) but it wasn’t.
I’m not sure if there is any music theory for drums, i just thought you hit them, is there like sheet music for drums?
Yes. Especially in jazz, they are called rudiments. Notes are pitch, rhythm, dynamics, etc. Everything that’s not pitch you care for. A lot

You’re ahead of me. I tried the drum section of our school band but could never master the drum roll. Try as I might. I was only good at the bells. 
I have no idea what those notes mean lol, Rudiments sounds like a cool word though 
i guess i should watch a yourube video on it or something

Hey guys, I hope I’m not annoying people with my drumming updates, but today was pretty cool.
My drum lesson days are really chilled and today was really nice, I helped set up my drum kit & poured a cup of tea, we were asked what we’d like to play & I asked for a bit of samba/ reggaeton style drumming (i watched a guy play that on youtube) & it sounded awesome.
The first beat was very hard to get & i struggled to get it, The whole session was way too advanced for me & i really enjoyed it, it was very hard.
The drums that i got were really not very good, squeeky kick pedal, horrible sounding all around tbh but it was still good fun, i told them i had ordered e-drums and they were really cool about it.
I’m going to the annual gig on Friday with my pal, should be good.
