Does sertraline induced psychosis count as drug related psychosis,? I read that when a drug is involved the psychosis can be way more severe…! I am preparing some questions to ask the pdoc

Did you get psychosis while being on a stable dose of Abilify? Or it happened after you stopped the Abilify?

So I was on 50mg and on the second day of taking it I didn’t sleep and developed a psychotic episode. It resolved with sleep but then they stupidly decided it was ok to increase the dose. That landed me in hospital and it continued after I stopped.

No sorry, I was off the Abilify. I had taken sertraline before with no isses but I was on abilify at the time.

When i was unmedicated after i took 5 pills of sertraline to calm me down i had like a forced thought or something i saw some scary stuff on it .

What did the Drs say? It could be because you stopped the Abilify especially since you were fine on Sertraline before when you were on Abilify.

Yeah I really believe the sertraline played a role in causing my illness to get worse… I am not saying I don’t have bipolar or schizoaffective or whatever, but it made the symptoms surface again…

I was on about 10 mg Abilify at the time … it wasn’t a high dose… i had to stop it immediately even though it was ok for my mood but I kept bleeding heaveily… I was not on it that long

The drs say the meds caused me to relapse…

But obviously I don’t know much i was very ill and I want to talk to the pdoc personally to find out what the hell happened.

You stopped Abilify because it made you bleed? I don’t understand.

Sorry I don’t know about that side effect, ask your Dr about it. You’re on Abilify now?

Best to ask your dr. And as you are doing, read up as much as possible so that you know what to make sense of during the conversation with the dr.

Well informed patients are treated with a lot of respect imo. Drs have never mistreated me when it comes to discussing medication and general health care.
