Driving - should i re-learn?

I passed when I was about 19 years old but I have not driven in over a decade… pretty useless even to learn …lol but i am thinking i might feel differently if i were to drive an automatic…

i tried to get another lesson a year ago but i ended up not doing it again…

i am also fed up that i have to reapply for licesne every year…

i am happy with public transport but i know driving is a good skill…

i feel safer not to be on the road… cos i find i might be too hesitant it scares me.

I’m thinking the exact opposite. How much better I’d feel if only I had an idea how to ride the public transportation, instead of driving my own vehicle.
37 years I’ve been driving, 11 years with a motorcycle license, but I’ve never stepped foot on any transportation in my town, because it stinks.

I sure would rather ride than drive, IF we had something reliable. Drivers these days are really, really scary stupid.

@csummers really? where do you live? i wouldn’t say our transportation is clean… it looks clean mostly (but i have to wash my hands constantly cos i feel yuck touching the rails ) … but i am happy with public transport… a new local bus takes me door to door to the cinema… im so happy we have this…

I live in Northern California.
We have a sort of a bus system, but it rarely has more than 1passinger-if that, and stops it’s service at 6PM on the weekdays. Not even sure if it runs on the weekends, couldn’t tell you because I refuse to get on them.

They can’t seem to get to their schedualed stops on time, then take off even if there are the transferred passengers flagging them down.
This makes the people have to wait an hour or more for the next one to show up.
It can take over 2 hours to get to the next city only 8 miles away. One could walk to their destination faster.
It’s a joke.

Do the mentally ill have to reapply for their licence every year in the uk? Didn’t know that :scream:

I guess it’s different for everyone. For me I was told to apply after one year.

My licence as run out. Don’t want to have to answer questions about sedation and judgement etc so won’t be reapplying.

Neither will I. It’s too much hassle. And I’m happy with our transport regardless of what people say.

Yeah I get a free bus pass. My parents tend to drive me to places though.

What is wrong with his car? Does he go too fast?

He has a jaguar on a 3 year lease. It’s not the car it’s the person Behind the wheel…my stomach feels like I’m sat on a rollercoaster. And the music doesn’t appeal to me.

I LOVE driving. It is so convenient and makes my life easier. Certain places you can not go with Public transport and if you do not know which bus to take to where, it is a disaster!

Here sometimes I need to take a bus then metro then another bus and I can not memorize which one to take when until I go a few times. So and if my mobile is off for some reason, it will be difficult to track the routes.

Anyway I use both. But if you can get your license renewed and practice, you will be very glad.

I think driving is like riding a bike, once you learn you don’t forget. You may be a little rusty, especially with a different and newer car. But the basic gist you don’t forget!!!

The longest I went without driving was over a year and I was fine when I got back to it. So not all that long but still, my dad said you don’t forget.
