Has anyone ever have their delusions and paranoia decrease when supplementing with dopamine, such as caffeine, l tyrosine etc.?
I feel my thoughts and voices don’t over play as much when I smoke or drink coffee.
Has anyone ever have this happen to them?

L theanine increases dopamine I guess. I take that and it makes me less symptomatic.

Caffeine doesn’t effect dopamine. It works on different receptors.

I need caffeine to function. It is weird because it exacerbates symptoms for some people.

Yeah I don’t think caffeine can do that but it does cause anxiety
It actually does. It boosts dopamine in the prefrontal cortex.

IIRC, the dopamine hypothesis is that we have too little dopamine in our PFC and too much in other areas. D1 vs D2. I think D3 is raised, too.

And the meds lower it in the PFC? Is that why I feel I had a lobotomy from meds?

So we take meds to reduce our overall dopamine then self medicate to raise it in our pfc by drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes? Do I have that right? I hate schizophrenia, I feel like I’m choosing which thing I want killing me.

Im not exactly sure if they lower it in the PFC, but they do so in other regions of the brain like @anon9798425 stated
The aim is to find APs that lower D2 receptor activity and increase D1 receptor activity. The results so far have been less than successful.

Stephanie Root (A Chinese herb ) does exactly that.

How? Caffeine doesn’t have any binding profile to dopamine receptors
