I was working as a barista and taking in huge amounts of caffeine, I returned fron work after drinking a lot of coffee and relapse almost instantly. Right now im really sensitive to caffeine and cant handle even one cup. I suspect my relapse was caused by caffeine, can this be true?
Of course, it could be true.
What is this “relapse”?
Caffeine raises glutamate. They say glutamatergic synapses are the real cause of schizophrenia, not dopamine.
Who says that @devra?
I think caffeine contributes to mania; coffee and strong tea are a no-no for me. I drink hot chocolate now, I seem to be able to handle it.
Caffeine…i likey
An article on this site that said; of 130 high risk genes for schizophrenia, 30% are associated with glutamergic synapses and only 1 gene was involved with dopamine receptors. The article says dopamine may affect schizophrenia, but is not the cause.
That’s very interesting. Hey Mods! Can one of you share with me the link on this site that @devra is talking about?
Something about; glutamate emerging as a cause of schizophrenia, in the title.
Thanks @devra 15
