Don’t get a dog if you plan on leaving it outside all the time.
Dogs are supposed to be part of your family. Being alone outside all the time is cruel.
My neighbours always have their dog outside. I hear it crying all the time.
I can’t say anything either. My uncle told me not to. Dont want to get on his bad side either because he lets me live here for free. (I live with my grandma, his mom)

I strongly agree with that. I’ve seen it before and it’s really sad.
Where I grew up, having an “outdoor” dog was a thing: I knew two people who had dogs and left them outside in kennels.
Coincidentally, both families had dads who were very much into hunting and guns. I dunno if there’s some old wives’ tale out there that says keeping a hunting dog outside will make him/her tougher. But maybe that’s what these guys believed.
I knew those dogs from an early age, and although they’re long gone now, I still think of them from time to time and reflect on their treatment even today.

I think it’s weird when people leave their dogs outside. I am hypervigilant over my dog and my previous dog. That means they’re in the house and only outside when they want to be outside. As soon as they signal, by barking, that they want to come in, we get them immediately.

yes, I agree totally on this don’t get a dog if you plan on leaving it outside all the time also don’t get a puppy then when you get tired of it give it away or let it go this is plain cruelty at its best and evil. My Dogs are family until either the end of their lives or my life or both when you get a pet dog or cat, or any other animals they should be spoiled with lots of love and affection. Mine are they get whatever they want whether it’s good for them or not is another story. My One dog is fat and loves to eat half of the time I give in to her wishes, but I feel I may be enabling her what’s others thoughts on that?

I love cats too. If I had my own place, financially secure and lots of free time, i’d get 2 dogs and 2 cats.

It’s not good for dogs to be overweight but I understand you wanting to spoil your dog because I was overfeeding my dog and giving her too many treats and too much cheese and she’s overweight and I have to try to play fetch with her every day this summer to help her lose weight.
My dog was overweight
I fed him less and he lost 5 pounds
The Vet wants him to lose two more pounds
He was 27 pounds and now he weighs 22 pounds
I guess that’s 6 pounds
I hate when people do that because dogs are social creatures and need to be played with and pet. My dogs sleep in bed with me and always are by my side at home.

I also can’t stand when people get dogs, and never walk/exercise them. I think this leads to dogs that bark often when they are outside. They just need/want to explore – they need those sniffs lol
My dog has a pretty good life
some dogs can be wild and wicked my dog left a 2 inch scar on my nose
I had her on diet dry dog food and add a small amount of soft food and she spit out the diet food and just ate the soft she was on it for a month and lost 3 pounds but has gained it back since she went off the diet food she may have to go back on it even if she hates it she may get a few bites of it in if I was to mix it with soft food She weighs like 25 pounds when she is supposed to weigh arou d 15 to 20 pounds I am bad for not walking her either guilty of not ever taking her for long walks I should but afraid stray dogs may attack us or her
My dog weighs almost 23lbs and should only weigh 17lbs at the most according to my stepmom.
