Don’t want a case manager

I don’t think that my new case manager is going to work out.
Don’t want to give out details as to why but there are good reasons.

I miss my last case manager, and I’m no longer seeing a real reason for me to continue seeing one.

I’m realizing that most of them are not sincere and don’t really care about your well being.

My last case manager was the exception.
A rarity to say the least.

I really don’t know what to do.

Do you have to have one at all?

You can just tell them things aren’t working out and break up with them,

If that’s what you do with a case worker, right?

What’s a case manager

I had a case manager who didn’t make a good therapist. Not all of them do, and in Virginia’s mental health system, your case manager often has to serve as therapist because of budget constraints. Whether or not they are good at it depends, my first was so good I forgot she was just a case manager. The next was terrible at it, so I fixed it so we only saw each other for case management related things like signatures they need from me and checking up semi-anually on how my treatment plan is going etc.

I wish it was that easy but unfortunately it’s a complicated situation.
I can’t get into details here.

I understand.

If you have to keep them,

Just keep it professional and accept that you can’t treat them like your last case manager.

Sorry it has to be that way,

I wish you had a better case manager.

Is it that you just don’t like their “vibe” or they’re actually not doing their job? If they’re not doing their job then you should be able to complain in some way.

They are not doing their job.
I have the right to ask for someone else.
I may just do that.

A case manager is like a cross between a counselor and social worker.

Ive had three case managers since coming back to this clinic the first two were full of it. I like my current case manager.

Anyway can you request a different one or none at all?

I can request a new case manager with no problems.
I loved my last case manager.

I’m glad you like your current case manager @cbbrown!

Hi @FlyingPurplePeopleMeeter.

My last case manager was just an overall nice and genuine person.
She never looked down at me and respected me.

She left me her email address and told me I can reach her whenever I want.

I may contact her at some point.

Thanks!

I got away from mental health services and case managers a long time ago. I never needed their help, and all they did was annoy me.

Like I said before I’m kind of stuck in the system.
But I know what you mean.

I know, from your posts, what a good case manager you had before. I feel that way about my pdoc and if I ever have to change I will be unhappy about it. I hope you are able to get someone else who will work with you and care about what they are doing. Good luck @Wave.

I really like my case manager. He calls me about every 10 days (now that I’m doing pretty well), and gives me support, yet offers space for me (I’d hate it if he called me every few days). We pretty much just talk sports anyways when he does call lol
