I had a case manager who didn’t make a good therapist. Not all of them do, and in Virginia’s mental health system, your case manager often has to serve as therapist because of budget constraints. Whether or not they are good at it depends, my first was so good I forgot she was just a case manager. The next was terrible at it, so I fixed it so we only saw each other for case management related things like signatures they need from me and checking up semi-anually on how my treatment plan is going etc.
Is it that you just don’t like their “vibe” or they’re actually not doing their job? If they’re not doing their job then you should be able to complain in some way.
I know, from your posts, what a good case manager you had before. I feel that way about my pdoc and if I ever have to change I will be unhappy about it. I hope you are able to get someone else who will work with you and care about what they are doing. Good luck @Wave.
I really like my case manager. He calls me about every 10 days (now that I’m doing pretty well), and gives me support, yet offers space for me (I’d hate it if he called me every few days). We pretty much just talk sports anyways when he does call lol
