I am having a really hard time with the depression caused by my anti-psychotic. It has taken over my life. I feel like I cannot do anything because of it. Anybody here with the same problem?
Not sure if it is depression or negative symptoms for me. They are very much alike. I suffer from anhedonia and apathy.
Geodon and Seroquel do not cause me to be depressed. Haldol sure did. I was totally demoralized when I was on Haldol. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about finding another AP. Maybe you can find one that won’t make you depressed.
I got that from risperidone.
I might try wellbutrin, I’ll have to make an appointment with my pdoc. Even though I think I need an antidepressant I am afraid of trying an SSRI as they can cause permanant sexual side effects (PSSD).
I don’t think it causes much depression as much as it causes/worsens negative symptoms. I remember not having negative symptoms until I was put on high doses of anti-psychotics. I felt like they caused schizophrenia at first.
Wellbutrin is a SNRI and is known to not cause sexual side effects.
My meds got change from Latuda to Geodon and I’ve been sliding into depression
