Does anyone now any good autism forums?

I can’t let the thought go that I might have some sort of undiagnosed autism.
I’ve googled it a lot, read some papers and such, and there are lots of lesser-known symptoms that fit mine.

I need to find a place like this, only for autism, where I can post those symptoms and ask if anyone has had the same experiences and/or thinks I should have an evaluation.

Does anyone know a good active autism forum?

The easiest way is to ask a doctor.

I think @firemonkey and @shutterbug use Wrong Planet.

I use WP, with same username as here. I’ve not come across @shutterbug . I’m also at https://community.autism.org.uk/ but haven’t posted there for several months.

https://aspietests.org/ will give you an idea of whether to pursue a dx or not.

I think you should stop advising people on here to take those tests @firemonkey. You know that sz and autism share traits and getting an online test that tells you to get tested to people that don’t have autism is not helpful.

He is very clear that the online test is not a diagnosis. There is nothing wrong with telling someone about a test that helped them.

Well I have heard people on here take his advice and end up getting a dx and know they are pretty sure that they don’t have it. If that was me I would be humiliated beyond having any confidence about myself ever again.

Actually, that’s the reason I want to do unofficial tests and talk to other people on forums first, I don’t want to make a fool out of myself my going to the doctor and demanding an autism assessment if it turns out I’m just weird or it’s part of my sz diagnosis

You will score high, that’s all I can say.

It is hard to be diagnosed with autism when you dont have autism. You do not know more about a stranger on the internet’s mental health than their medical provider. If they get diagnosed, their doctor thinks they have it.

Fine don’t listen to me what would I know.

You are treating people as though they are stupid. Most people are perfectly capable of deciding whether the test results do or do not indicate they should explore the matter further.

Well, I have done the same thing. I even was in talks with my cpn about getting an assessment. It is really easy mistake to make. I just don’t want people to make that mistake. Its obvious to me now, especially since literally everyone on here showed me that they share the same social difficulties. I am not claiming they are stupid, I am just saying they are making an easy mistake with big consequences.

I fail to see how being diagnosed with a disorder you have is a bad thing.

Being dx with a disorder you don’t have would though. Everyone around you certain that you don’t have it and losing every shred of confidence they had in you.

Look just forget I ever said anything. If people making a mistake of getting an easy misdiagnosis is an ok thing to happen, then who am I to say anything about it

It is not easy to be diagnosed with autism.

Not if you are neuro typical. But we are not though are we. We share autistic traits

The fact that there is overlap between schizophrenia and autism is even more reason to seek an evaluation, in my opinion. Some people on here have never had psychotic symptoms, and are old enough that their sz diagnosis came before much was known about autism. I think it is a good idea to check with a medical professional to make sure you have the correct diagnosis that reflects today’s understanding of both disorders.
