Why don’t you just learn Chinese?

its too hard of language.

There are various types of students who will either study Chinese well or not so well. But also, the teacher must instruct the curriculum just as good.

Haha. It was a joke. I was thinking you’d be mad at me.

No. I know it’s a difficult language. I tried mandarin. I gave up on it

I’d have to take a class in a classroom. If I understood mandarin or even Cantonese I’d be happy. Actually speaking it proved too hard for me.

Learning a language by yourself is difficult since the conversation part of communicating requires 2 people. Cantonese and Mandarin use the same written Chinese characters for most words. Speaking a foreign language needs to be practiced at a young age such as 20 and under and from there forward. At least you tried.

Did you throw out the manual? @oe1489

Oh. Yes. I definitely tried. I think I was in my 30s when I tried to learn Mandarin.

If it were up to me I’d know all of the 2000+ languages that exist in this world.

Do you speak both Mandarin and Cantonese?

The brain has a difficult time learning and retaining taught material at the age of 30. As for learning all of the languages in the world, I would focus on the languages that have the most speakers. Mandarin, Spanish and English have the most speakers of their respective languages.

Yes, I speak both Cantonese and Mandarin.

I’m 32 and trying to learn German. Are you saying it is a lost cause? :shark::shark::shark:

You can try but like @Loke’s experience, she was unsuccessful at learning Mandarin.

Check out LingoSteve on YouTube. He’s older and still learns languages. It’s a marathon not a sprint. It’s taking me longer then when I was younger but I’m still learning Arabic very slowly. It’s really just a hobby for me so I enjoy it even if I don’t retain much. Do you have a language buddy?
