Does anyone here speak sign language

I really want to learn sign language. I was just wondering maybe here there’s a sign language person.

My Mum and Sis learned it together but because my mums sight got worse i felt tthere was no point doing it myself as she could not see enough to make sense of the signer, if i was going to learn i would have to learn a different form of signing which would be me signing into her hand.

The alphabet is easy, i learnt it at primary school when i was 10 or something

I would watch people sign. It was interesting.

I also know the alphabet. But that’s it. I would love to learn to speak sign language too.

I can sign my name and say random words.

Yeah, I sort of know a couple words too. One of my nieces is autistic and her mom was teaching her sign language as a small child to help her communicate, so I picked up a few words. Yes, the many “Signing time” videos she watched.

My dad is hard of hearing so I do lots of gesturing to get my point across. I don’t think either of us will learn ASL though.

I’ve been slowly learning it as my hearing deteriorates. My lip-reading skills are getting pretty advanced.

I took two levels of asl but its not easy to retain if you don’t use it. I was conversational but I don’t think I would be now.

I learned deaf schizophrenics do hear voices. Do blind schizophrenics see things as well?
