Does anyone have schizophrenia that wasnt caused by drugs ? I feel bad because i feel like i shouldnt have schizophrenia because i never did drugs at all.

I never did drugs. I’ve barely drank more than 3 glasses of alcohol in my life. I’m just predisposed to having this.

Never even considered doing drugs got diagnosed age 18 before that never drank alcohol. Age 25 drank lots of alcohol. Granddad was a schizophrenic

Does anyone in your immediate family have a predisposition for a high dopamine personality? Do the smoke or gamble or are addicted to high dopamine activities. Reason i ask is because my father has a high dopamine personality and im wondering that is why im predispositioned for it.

My brother smokes and drinks a lot , not sure if this is linked to high dopamine personality. No one in my immediate family has sz.
Sz isn’t just high dopamine. It’s a combination of things. Getting stuck on one possible cause is another form of delusion.

I have childhood schizoeffective disorder. I’ve had hallucinations from a very young age. They think it was due to childhood trauma. The way I feel like, it doesn’t matter why you have it, but you have it and now you have to figure out how to be happy and okay with your life. Most of the time that involves multiple facets, such as medication and therapy.

Its also becouse im dyslexic and it is now worse because my memory is bad now. Where as before it was very good. This disorder makes me feel like an idiot. I feel like a total idiot now because of bad memory i used to feel very bright because my memroy was good and i was good at art. Now i see everything for what it is and it makes me feel depressed

My schizophrenia was not drug induced. Drugs, stress, my other learning experiences happened later. I never had used drugs when my symptoms manifested.

I did drugs, like weed, and cocaine - BECAUSE of the mental illness. It certainly didnt cause it.
Its a silly method of self-medicating really.
I never touched weed, until i got dx’d with schizophrenia. Ive used it in the past for the anxiety, but obviously it brings on the paranoia so im careful with it.
Im certainly not in the drug psychosis group - cos i was well off my rocker anyway, before i touched it lol. x

No drugs, no smoking, never been drunk.
I was taking tofranil when I came down with schizophrenia, but there is a family history of schizophrenia on my father’s side of the family so it’s a judgement call.
