Does anyone hallucinate taste?

Ive had an unexplained burning taste in my mouth, and I was wondering if it’s possible to hallucinate taste.

Its not hot kind of burning, but a burnt food kinda taste.

It’s only happened a few times. Would this fall under tactile hallucinations? Is this even possible? Could it not even be a hallucination?

I had a tooth extracted two weeks ago, I wonder if that’s doing it.

Dr.google answered some questions.

It’s possible. I was once riding the bus and hallucinated a strong strawberry flavor, out of the blue.

I did. During my first psychosis around 15 years ago , I hallucinated taste intensively. For about one week I frequently had the taste of coffee, Chinese spirits in my mouth whereas I didn’t drink coffee and any type of spirits at all at that time.

I kept dreaming I was walking out of the gas station and twisting open an ice cold coke…only it kept disappearing getting lost between car seats…woke up thirsty

You probably ate too fast and It’s just the gas exiting your system via your airway.

Welcome to the forum mysticmike! Glad to have you hear.

I’m glad a lot of other people have experienced something similar. I wasnt going to tell my pdoc for fear of her thinking I’m faking, but after reading google and hearing everyone here I feel better talking about it.

I always worry people will think I’m faking for some reason, I hate being called a liar. Thinking with my wise mind I know my psychiatrist would never think I’m faking, but my emotional mind gets in the way sometimes.

So its kind of like a warning sign for you? Kinda like how epileptics can taste something before a seizure?

Do you mean bread triggers the hallucination, or do you mean you hallucinate the taste of bread?

The bread tastes and smells bad but it isn’t bad
