I can smell mint chocolate but I don’t have any and haven’t had any recently .
I had this problem with pizza earlier…and cigarettes too. Where are these smells coming from, I wonder?
The smell of chocolate is SO strong …

There’s smell hallucinations too apparently. And taste…the people in the study I’m in asked if I ever tasted anything other people don’t and I realized I do, I often taste chemicals in my food. The taste is so strong, like someone got cleaner in it or something I am always surprised when other people can’t taste it. But everyone just assumed I had really sensitive taste but it may actually be a hallucination?? So weird!!
Food often tastes rotten or chemically. I wonder if it’s taste hallucinations or if my taste buds are just messed up.
I also smell cigarettes all the time when my meds aren’t working right. But I figure it must be someone outside.
I don’t think anything tastes the same any more. I get no pleasure from eating.
I just want to be sick.
It could be that you were around these things earlier and the odor stuck to your clothes.
When I was a pot-smoking 17 year old I would go over my friends house every weekend night and smoke pot and drink beer in his room listening to old Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top.
My curfew was 11:00 pm but I broke it half the time and came home at 12:00 am or later. I was smart enough to use visine in both eyes to get rid of the red and my friend would usually give me cookies or lunch meat to mask my breath so I wouldn’t smell like alcohol. But very often when I strolled in at midnight the first thing she did was sniff my clothes. She thought I didn’t know she was doing this and she could never quite prove i was smoking pot every night like a fiend, lol.
But yeah, odors stick to certain clothes. Also, even so-called normal people can flashback and smell odors that aren’t there but it it just reminds them of odors in their youth.
Maybe this problem will go away. Try not to dwell on it. That might make it worse.
I think it was an early warning sign as I started having scary thoughts sent to me a while later and someone telling me I was evil
I don’t think a great many of us are as evil or as good as we think we are. To me, evil is someone like Hitler, Stalin, or Mao.
holy c&*#!p. I taste things in my food too. it is usually citrus. i know they sell, what is it ascrobate? or some mess like that. It is a form of vitamin c used as a preservative in food. Some people use it in home canning. but i swear i keep tasting it, but as lime. i read the ingredient list. its not there.
I will taste it at one time but not another. I took some of my food and gave it to brother and made him eat it. He said no way. he didnt taste it. i keep doing this ever so often. no one ever taste it.
when i start to taste it, i will taste it in every thing. it will stay that way sometimes for two or three days.
I smell and taste things all the time that no one else can
There’s a thing - olfactory hallucinations.
These are called olfactory (smell) hallucinations. I used to get them too. And they are not always pleasant smells. You are lucky.
I went to a George Clinton / parliament concert when I was in high school wearing a flannel shirt. I didn’t realize it that day but the next day that shirt smelled like a pile of freshly raked leaves, ah I remember it well
You can time warp through nostalgia with normally induced olfactory hallucinations. The ones that just occur when thinking about the past.
Yo @jesspresso good luck. Hope that med team is quick to get you the assistance you need seeing how long it’s taking them.
I only see them once a week… they do home visits and they just get cosy on my sofa!!
I guess I am just not seen as a very risky lady even though the things I tell them should scare them!! They just smile and be like "aww "…
I just hope that you are comfortable in waiting…
I don’t mean to start up a flame war, but I’m not one to over appreciate the effects of medication.
A lot of what you are experiencing will probably be with you throughout the rest of your life in one form or another. I hope you can get comfortable with all of it.
Some really do recover on meds, but I think by and large… We’re schizophrenic… it’s how our brain’s are supposed to operate. Working to get to know your brain can allow you to start to see past the added difficulties and confusions you have to experience on an internal level… Successfully pull that off though and the world can still be your burrito.
Good luck. We’re all rooting for you!
