Doctors always assume every problem I have is psychological 😡

I went to the ER last week because I had sudden and extreme dizziness. The doctors there basically gave me a pregnancy test and a tox screen, and then said I was having a panic attack. Even though I didn’t feel upset and my breathing was regular. It kept happening throughout the week, so I just went to my primary doctor. She did one quick test and determined I had a cold that was messing with my inner ear.

She gave me a medicine that has made the dizziness go away completely, so she was clearly correct. It annoys me that no matter what reason I have for going to a doctor, they always bounce me right back to psych without even bothering to check my physical body. Does anyone else get this treatment?

Never, I told my doc I think syncope, inner ear and dizziness and fainting, and he gave me exercises to do with my head,

he had me lie prolonged on side and I thought I would throw up, then tested me, and found I was right.

No meds, nothing, just physical exercises.

I get it sometimes , but only at ERs where I have been treated for episodes

Only if I disclose, I generally don’t unless relevant or necessary.

I don’t even give blood anymore because they ask for medications and when I tell them they say, ‘and?’ As if they don’t know that I’ll be taking something for the rest of my life, and most mental illnesses aren’t head colds.

The sheer ignorance among doctors and nurses about mental illness, even so called ‘mental health professionals’ astounds me. Only slightly better than the general public in my experience.

yeah but the ER should know if you are prone to panic attacks,

versus having a minor heart attack.

I don’t think they are smart either, and no one with knowledge hangs out in ER, but we also wanting general care there,

and can’t be too choosy.
