Doctor no longer wants me on APs or ADs. Says I "dont have psychotic illness"

So in the past 5 months I’ve been on my antipsychotics and antidepressant maybe 3 weeks tops of that. Recently talked to my psychiatrist. He told me plain and simple he doesnt think I have psychotic illness. He thinks I have a personality disorder.

So yeah now all I take is Lyrica(pregabalin and losartan for blood pressure. It’s kinda nice. Weird though. How do you go from 18-29 being diagnosed schizophrenia bi-polar to just maybe a personality disorder? Weeeeird. I feel like a fraud using these forums now. Only reason i do is cause I did have that diagnoses for a loooong time.

That’s pretty bizarre :astonished: I hope he’s right.

I wouldn’t be able to cope if they changed my DX. That would be mind messing.

What kind of PD does he think you have?

This forum isn’t only for people with sz. It’s also for people who think they may have sz or related disorders. I hope you still always feel welcome here. I’ve seen people on here who found out they didn’t but still stuck around.

@bobbilly he thinks I’m schizoid, I guess it’s a form of unable to form relationships or see interest in them

That’s very interesting. So you never had hallucinations or delusions?

@LilyoftheValley sorry phone is loading slow today. umm probably not. an ongoing theme for me has been doctors asking me about symptoms and me not knowing how to reply.

do you hear voices? umm maybe, i dont know, maybe not.
do you have hallucinations? I dont think so?
do you have delusions? yeah maybe, like the system is out to get everyone, thats about it

I wouldnt worry about the dx. Treat the symptoms. I dont have psychosis right now or mood episodes, so now im getting to go at trying to treat the adhd component of my illness.

sounds really related to schizophrenia.

I think just cause your doc changed your diagnosis according to how he observes you, doesn’t change the fact the forum has helped support you while you had the SZ diagnosis and can continue to help you.

But yeah, I hope you also get access to a therapist, what a mindf*ck.

I went the other way, from PD to sza/autism lol. But if this is the only dr you’ve seen that says this I would get a second opinion just in case, going off APs if you are sz can be devastating

Like ive had the bipolar dx for 12 years, if it changed tomorrow it wouldnt matter to me. Itd be nice if they did away with it then I could be a helicopter pilot :grin:

@Froge he’s my most recent but def not my first. I’m aware of how hard it’s been coming off the APs, had my doubts as well but always met with reassurance
