I may need a new schizophrenia diagnosis

I have been diagnosed with schizoafftive disorder depressed type, but I been feeling paranoid as of late and I am not sure if my diagnosis is correct. My brith mother has paranoid schizophrenia. And I am not sure if I have it or not. Then again I don’t have hallucinations unless I’m having an anxiety attack or really depressed. Next therapist session I plan to talk to my therapist.
I also been experiencing something similar to DID, but I am not sure if it fack or just a delusion. I also got diagnosed with ptsd and I trying my best to do what I can for myself.

I just needed to vent. Thanks for reading.

I hope you get it sorted out without too much trouble. Are you taking an antipsychotic?

Yes I am. I just been having mood swings massively as of late. I am doing my best.

I’m sure you are. We’re all just doing our best. Can you make an appointment with your psychiatrist about it? Maybe a med adjustment?

Yes I can. I have to reschedule an appointment anyway.

That’s good. Good luck! I hope you get relief soon!

Good luck with your appointment. Feel free to vent here anytime!

Need a new one? I’m still trying to get rid of my old one

The treatment probably won’t be affected much. You may have paranoid sz over schizoaffective depressive type but it might not matter that much.

DID treatment would probably be different though.

i hope that your next visits with your therapist are productive! good luck and have a restful week!

@treebard DID is characterized by amnesiac barriers and the inability to function as a singular person in a single body (disrupting work, social life, school, driving, etc). DID treatment, as far as I know, is mostly system management with your therapist or psychiatrist, so that managing daily life with switches (alters changing) is easier to resume life rather than stutter or self destruct. (and thats just the surface of issues) some people speculate that if you give enough care to each alter, that the amnesiac barriers might break down, or you can integrate alters entirely, but i dont know how frequent or possible that is. i do know that some but not all anti-psychotics may blur systems and cause further memory disorder.

i have DID, so I am open to any questions you might want to know about how a system functions, but I am nervous to talk about it publically (pm would be better)
