i have treatment resistant anxiety. my friend who is a schizoaffective like i am, recommends i switch to zyprexa for the anxiety. he said the worst side effects for him was drooling. i feel pretty stable on risperidone though and it’s risky switching meds. i feel like i can live with the anxiety even though it’s very disabling.

I think haldol is better than either of these.
These arent anxiety meds, your friend isn’t a Dr, talk to your Dr about anxiety meds. You tried all anxiety meds? There is a ton.
I found my anxiety mostly went away after switching to Abilify, but as Aziz said, you should ask your doctor. Some here had bad problems with Abilify.
You should definitely try it! You can always go back to your first medicine if this doesn’t work out but I’d ask a doctor first too
Of all the people to ask, your psydoc has the most knowledge and experience.
I don’t remember having much anxiety that I felt when on olanzipine. on respiridal I think it did become an issue, but when it got bad I switched to aripiprazole so quickly I can’t remember. And aripiprazole is just terrible for anxiety.
yea ask your pdoc about it… he/she will know better what is good for you.
I think it would make more sense if you remained on the Risperdal and was given another medication to treat your anxiety than switching APs.
It’s best to have this discussion with your doctor.
