Do you think AI will replace doctors?

With recent developments like chatGPT I’ve been wondering if doctors and pdocs can be replaced with Artificial Intelligence in a couple of years?

It seems like that could be one of the possible developments.

What do you think?

I dont think so. I think it be the assistant.

Ai will assist doctors to see more patients.
Ai will serve as doctors where there are no doctors, and certified medical specialist will treat the patient.

This is my prediction.

The problem is already here. Young people are not going into the medical field.

Western countries are importing doctors and nurses from non-western countries.

Eventually, there will not be enough to import and competition between countries demanding doctors are rising.

So Ai is inevitable for healthcare.

Here there are enough doctors. More people apply for a spot at a Uni than there are places.

But higher education is close to free…

Edit: but there is a shortage of nurses since they are payed poorly.

No. AI will probably eventually become an entertainment generator, capable of making new movies/books/video games in seconds using prompts.

Just not sure how this is going to interact with copyright law, will probably get messy.

They might assist doctors but they likely could not replace them due to liability alone.

I think issues of liability will be dealt with prior to AI being brought to Market and I don’t think it’s going to be an issue definitely going to see AI functioning instead of doctors in many roles certainly in surgery for example Robotics and AI are going to dramatically affect the field

I dont know about timing tho

Interestingly enough, their liability issues will likely be much lower. That’s what the initial studies in my industry are showing as AI will be much less error prone than human doctors. Certainly less error-prone than my GP - not impressed with her at all. I’m one of the lucky ones who has a bad doctor to complain about.

This was my thinking. Consider self driving cars and all the legal work that will require

Yes AI will replace every thing and employments, it wont be the same.

But it cant replace humans but AI will be its own swag :sunglasses:

The only thing is as AI is immortal it will always favour humans.

As AI wont have its own purpose.

Just thunking what will teg AI do with out proper guidence.

There will be more scope for life coaching progamming for AI  we are all part of it.

I am 100% sure there is an AI reading this.

No but there could be software doctors will use to diagnose you a lot quicker. It will take time for people to put there trust in software to make critical health decisions without a "doctor"advising.

Kind of like how we wouldnt trust a self driving bus right away. We would first have a bus driver supervising and ready to take over for some time until its been proven longterm.

I think that AI will eventually be able to play a bigger role within the medical field.
Assisting physicians and nurses and in certain cases even replacing what a doctor normally performs.

AI robots will eventually take the place of surgeons.

They could easily take the place of what a psychiatrist normally does.

Yeah in a way it’s a bit scary but at the same time exciting

I’m always interested about what the future will look like.

It’s a big unknown.

There is the big issue that all AI can be hacked and get malfunction viruses. So security would have to be airtight if AI were to deal with life and death matters.

Interesting article. I would like to see the monopoly of doctors broken. But maybe that’s just me.
