This will not help me. Cause I need human connection from my doc and therapist.

Like their voice and presence? I can understand that. Still I feel like having a competent therapist in your pocket will benefit a lot of people. Especially when they have voice generation.

Haha. I think they start worrying about their jobs.

I think AI will make many people obsolete.

This forum will eventually become defunct. Schizophrenia is pretty esoteric knowledge, but not to artificial intelligence. This is the golden era where you can use Ai as a tool to further intelligent conversation. But the barriers to it being better at something like peer support is low by the time it has real efficacy as a therapist. Which is also something they predict as a use.

The same thing happened to the hayday of bodybuilding forums eventually the underground knowledge worked it way out of the woodwork to mainstream content. You can see this already happening with living well with schizophrenia on youtube and tiktok as an example. She has pateron discord or something.

I have an AI app on my phone right now called PI that sort of works like a very well informed peer support specialist. Lots of techniques and strategies for managing low moods and anxiety. It is still a bit rigid, like most AI, but it provides useful information and instant access In ways this forum usually doesn’t. I feel like on here, if you complain about symptoms, things way too quickly become about talking to your doctor, adjusting your meds, seeing a therapist, etc. Not a lot of practical real time solutions on this site. Also, hopefully the tech will coincide with better psychotherapy too. I’m thinking of things like “the feeling safe program

My favorite part of that movie is his work. You’re living in a post scarcity ai utopia COMMUTING to a job where you write DIGITAL letters lol. Maybe people just work to work in that universe or maybe the movie is just being self aware and funny but that don’t make sense lol. Also when he’s setting up Samantha the software asks him like two questions and immediately figures out his perfect match.

Interesting what do you mean by practical real time solutions?

Also the level of the conversation on here is generally chat style not long form. People do not describe specifics of their situation so it if often hard to help people. Also there is a lot of broken english mine included and neologisms and other abstract concepts. It is hard to pin anything down and really help people. Also people don’t want to read long posts. There are also a lot of frustrated and desperate people on here who demand answers. When people start demanding solutions the retort is to say speak to your doctor.

Pocket therapist is not a bad idea I would also like to be prescribed drugs by an AI if I have the ability to veto

I asked ChatGPT when the next full moon was and it was wrong. AI is cool, but we still need humans who are trained. What if something happens and we lose Internet or something? We need people available everywhere who can treat patients. I think drs could use AI to assist them and that would be very beneficial but I still think we need drs and therapists.

For the first time, now, I have a psychiatrist that is not a heartless robot. For all the others, I think I’d have preferred a chatbot. Chatbots don’t have their ego get into the way of good treatment.

Right now we do but soon most of them will become obsolete.
Surgeries will become exclusively robotic.

I’m looking forward to that day

That good point, so far the few therapist I had let their bias get to the treatment.

I’m not paying or letting my insurance pay an AI to spit garbage at me, we have AI at home!

Yup. I would prefer a humanbeing though. I think love and kindness and empathy and warmth and play can never be replaced.

If I can pick from a bad therapist or a chatbot though…give me the bot.

Yea, I would pick chatbox over the bad therapist, but empathy can’t be replace by a chatbox so has it limitation.

Most of the doctors I’ve seen have shown very little empathy if any at all.
I’ll take AI robots any day

Good riddance

Sure, most doctor I meet didn’t have any empathy for me, but when I found one that did it made a difference. :lab_coat:
