Do you snack at night?

My doc wants me to stop snacking at night and start eating the 3 meals a day in order to regulate my blood sugar. I find this very difficult because of the hours I keep. If I eat supper at 4 or 5pm, and I stay up until 1 or 2 am, that’s 8 hours of wakefullness without eating anything. You’re bound to get hungry after 8 hours. Or maybe it’s just habit, IDK.

Anyway, I’m having a bag of popcorn right now.

Nope! I don’t. I eat dinner which is my last meal, then I’m good for the day, and night.

Popcorn isn’t unhealthy as long as it’s not buttered popcorn.

If i do - it’s healthy snacks like almonds. Grapes. Strawberries.

I eat snacks at night. It helps me fall asleep to have some cereal before bed.

I usually eat dinner close to bedtime. Maybe that’s just as bad I don’t know.

No it’s not. It’s the amount of calories that you consume during the whole day that matters.

I use a silicone popcorn bowl that lets me make air popped popcorn in the microwave…I love putting cheese powder on it with a little bit of butter-flavored Pam.

Unfortunately I snack at night too. I’m usually not very hungry in the morning, but I try to eat something then.

Yes, this is usually how I feel in the morning as well. I’m not really interested in eating much, but I’m not supposed to take morning diabetes meds without eating, so I force myself to eat something as well.

I usually try not to eat anything after dinner unless I need something to take meds.

I honestly think part of my problem is boredom at night. Part of it may be to do with not smoking. My smokeless cig that is coming may help.

Can you chew gum? When I was quitting smoking I switched to a nicotine free vape for a bit and tried to replace the habit with a bunch of different things. I ended up having the most success with drawing. A close second was doing things with beads. I made a ton of cheap beaded jewelry just to keep my mind and hands busy.

I was chewing the nicotine gum but ran out. You don’t really chew it much, though. You’re supposed to chew it a bit and then put it between cheek and gums. It probably wouldnt hurt to get some regular gum.

I’ve got a smokeless cigarette coming that ninjastar suggested for when I take breaks from guitar, computer…or whatever else I’m doing, to replace the habit of going out for a smoke.

I have a nightly ritual of string cheese between 3 sets of 2 saltine crackers. I can’t tolerate the idea of going to bed on an empty stomach.

I don’t snack.

Dinner is my last meal too.

I only have half a cup of quinoa with soymilk for breakfast, smoothie for lunch and small vegan dinner.
Strange I’m overweight as I exercise too.

It’s delicious to eat.so enjoyable.
It takes self discipline for me not to snack.

If you’re on Seroquel - that drug gave me midnight munchies. So many nights I would eat an entire meal’s worth of calories late at night.
Personally I think 5PM is too early for supper. My parents used to want to eat between 8 and 9 which was a too late for me. 7PM is a good time. Maybe if you ate later you would snack less?
