Munchies at night time

Anyone else get a bad case of the munchies at night time?

During the day my appetite is under control. I dont feel too hungry or over eat during the early portion of the day.

Then night time comes and I wanna eat everything in my fridge.

Still going strong with the no smoking, which is a positive.

Yeah man!

Like about an hour after I take my night meds I get wicked munchies.

Idk what it is about night time. Maybe it’s because the meds relax us, and/or they increase our appetite.

I used to. Now I wander into the kitchen for a snack and realize I’m not hungry. A lot of it is habit.

I hear you man. My olanzapine does the same to me.

Yeah, definitely a habit.

If I remember correctly, you’re taking something that decreases your appetite? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes. Saxenda. Today I have had an orange, a small garden salad, and half a cup of coffee. And water. That was all I could manage to eat.

Prescription needed? Or OTC?

Definitely needed and I had to try two different other medications before this one. It was a 14-month fight to get here.

I started with a restrictive diet of low fat and basically no sugar. Worked for a bit then onto keto…

Keto works but not sure about long term. Going to keep on lo-carb but simple things like keeping up enough protein to make you feel full and lowering the carbs/sugar do help.

Even then I’d talk to your doctor and get some bloodwork done. Sort out all the stuff like cholesterol and test out your body systems before any serious diet…

Still. It really is a battle and you’ve got to sometimes hunker down for the long haul. If it was easy I’d be eating pizza whilst naked in a plunge pool…That isn’t happening anytime soon!

If you really need sugar, get it naturally from grapes or a banana. Not highly processed junk food.

Mate. I’ve lost 20kgs but my battle is maintaining that weight. I go high carb I’m just putting it back on so it’s still the same battle.

It doesn’t change. You have to resilient and make that choice. For me it was exercise. Get that right then onto diet when I wasn’t getting results. It’s a journey for sure but it’s important to make those choices and try them out. It’s not an easy process.

Hang in there matey. It’s worth it out the other end when good stuff happens because you’ve had the discipline and got it done!

That’s amazing :muscle: you must have improved your blood pressure, cholesterol, resting heart rate and a bunch of other things. Good for you :muscle:

It’s not an easy process but happy where I’ve gotten on these meds.

It really is hard work but it’s worth fighting through…I just look down now and see the end of my weiner when I’m peeing…That hasn’t happened since I was like 20 years plus younger.

You’ve got to just buy into that. The process works now. I’m committed to it and it is working. I will continue on this path…And it may help sz too and it’s stuff.

Still. I can see the end of my weiner

I don’t get them until after 3 am, then I keep bananas in the house to take the edge off.
