Do you plan your meals in advance?

I was wondering?
Do you plan your meals in advance?
Like for the next day or week?

Or do you do what I do and don’t plan what you are going to eat until the same day?

I really need to plan out my meals more.

But in all honesty, I don’t have a family to feed.

Yeah, I usually do.

I’ll make a meal like an hour before it.

I dont like making food when I’m hungry, I tear into it like a hungry bear and I almost never enjoy it.

I plan 7 days at a time. It helps me keep costs down and only need to buy groceries once a week

My girls both have ARFID…Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.

Meal planning is very stressful for my wife and I. Their affliction involves the taste, texture and even the presentation of the food.

One of my girls will only eat a hot dog with the ends cut off. I know, this disorder is bananas.

I buy about 2 weeks worth of milk and food and generally have the same meals in those two weeks. If I never buy unhealthy foods then I can’t eat them.

Mixing up the flavoured rice pouches with meat or fish keeps it from getting boring. I make my own cereal and eat that every day with various tinned fruit keeps that keeps that from getting ‘old’ on the taste buds too.

It is worth planning what meals you are going to have as that can ensure it is healthy all the time.

Never heard of this disorder before.

@Wave

It’s a relatively new discovery…ARFID that is…by my daughter’s doctors at the Children’s Hospital here in Ontario, Canada.

i came up with a 1 day meal plan, and eat the same thing everyday, but it’s a varied diet full of fruits and veggies, grains, protein, and a little dairy. i just don’t put in the effort or time in the kitchen to cook a variety of meals for a weeks meal plan. also the hardest dish i make is rice and beans, all the meals i make our very easy to prepare.

If I plan the day before I usually stick to what I say I’ll have
But leaving It to the same day, that normally backfires and there is less resistance to the eating excuses

I like making enough to feed me for three or four days at a time. It might be stew, or chili, or a stir-fry with basmati rice… Something that is healthy, so I am not so tempted to throw fish and chips in the oven again

Tonight is Treat night. I’ve ordered a large meat lovers Pizza with onions and Parmesan cheese. That should keep me fed for 3 days anyway

I sort of plan what I’m going to eat in the next week. I’ve got it down to where I get about the right amount. I’ve also got tons of canned food for emergencies. If I ever get caught short I can eat that.

It would be better if I did and I cooked from scratch , but my executive functioning and culinary skills aren’t up to it.

I mostly buy food that I’m allowed to eat once every week or two. I have diabetes. Then I eat whatever, whenever until my food is mostly gone.

I don’t cook a lot.
I mainly prepare my meals.

I meal prep my dinners for the work week. And I just wing it for the rest of the meals and week

Every other week when I have my daughter I make a menu and order the groceries accordingly. On my week I just eat whats on hand. I usually do a shop for me once a month. Frozen dinners. Frozen veggies. Frozen berries. Eggs. Drinks. That’s my menu.
