Do you know anyone who died from lung cancer?

A friend of mine, Julie, died maybe in 2014 or 2015. A new friend’s spouse died something like four years ago of lung cancer. I have emphysema from 35 years of smoking. They found two nodules in my right lung, but they turned out to be calcium deposits. Any thoughts?

No but i might and i might not regret it. My inability to achieve a nonsmoker status is a problem with no solution in sight. My doc wont prescribe chantix for a reason which i disagree and can prove false. It is what it is

5 packs a day and there scared of mania???

I’m sorry to hear they won’t prescribe Chantix. It didn’t work for me though. I finally quit smoking eleven years ago cold turkey when I developed breathing problems.

Well yea i still try to quit at times. I would think any doctor who has a profession and an oblugation to keep people healthy would look at 5 pack 100 cigarettes every day of my life …non stop chain smoking and think what about health and whose afraid of the big bad mania. Becuase im not as manic as i have been and im on a mood stabilizer and it is interesting to me.

And if maybe their theory is i hate this young man if he dies he dies then i would say thats fine but my mom lives with me she is one of thee all time sweetest women in history and woyld you also want her to get some nasty second hand smoke stuff…

My grandfather died of lung cancer.

Which is why i would live a chantix effort and option due to my inexperience with thee drug

He smoked two packs a day since he was twelve and lived to be in his 70s.

Well cigarettes are really sad. You start smoking when you’re young then regret it the rest of your life. It’s easier to quit heroin than cigarettes a doctor in the past told me.

I think your doctor may have never tried heroin.

Thanks. My grandmother had emphysema and lived to 79. She was in bad shape the last five or six years she was alive. She died of a heart attack though.

I think that was the result of one study that went viral now they say heroin and cocaine is more addictive than tobacco I just googled it

Well, that was years ago that doctor told me that. Back in the 1980’s or 90’s.

If I’m reading the chart right, it looks like heroin and cocaine are more addictive than tabacco. I quit amphetamines in 1980 way before I quit smoking. I turned to alcohol after I quit smoking though. I started trying to give up drinking like five years ago.

My father died of squamous cell carcinoma many years ago. They weren’t sure of the cause, he was a heavy smoker but he was also around toxic chemicals every day (he was a mold maker for injection molded plastics).:no_smoking:
