I currently don’t. I filled out a form with my state that gives the legal right to my case manager. My only relative allowed to legally do this is my sister who lives 1,000 miles away. The only problem with this form I filled out is it makes you liable to pay for it. I have some cash in my psych clinic’s safe to cover what my prearranged funeral doesn’t cover.
My mum bro I guess and the rest of my relatives. But I haven’t thought that far ahead. Prob should.
Probably will end up being my sister. She is 7 years younger than me and in better shape.
I am thinking of starting a funeral plan soon. A certain company I really trust does reasonably priced plans which you can spread over years.
Only recently have I thought about getting affairs in order
I’ve spoken to my brother and sister about wanting cremation and no funeral.
Thanks @onepercentoff. I’m just doing a cremation too right now. I might have to have a memorial service now that I have a bf.
I took out some funeral insurance last year. I’ve plenty of family but it would be nice to leave the place without a financial burden on them.
I don’t care what they do with my body but I don’t want a funeral.
It’s depressing to think about but most likely my brother if he outlives me.
He’s only two years younger than me but he’s also healthier than me.
It’s only like $900 or so to get cremated. My wife keeps saying she is going to put me in Arlington National Cemetery. I am a combat vet so should be able to get a spot but I don’t see anyone going there to visit me. So I don’t see the point.
I don’t really care. I won’t be here anymore.
Well, at least you’ve got it worked out. I don’t know what my husband will do if I pass first. We have no extra money at all to plan ahead. Plus with my diagnosis, I’m having a really hard time finding coverage for a funeral.
I have a couple of funeral policies so, I’m covered. I want to be cremated cause its supposedly cheaper but cremation is more expensive than you think. My son’s cremation, urn, funeral, reception, marker, burial plot, invitations, musician, guest book, etc… came to around $7,000.00. And that was 11 years ago. @anon54988740.
What you pay before you die and what you actually pay after you die are two totally different things.
Thanks @TomCat @ZmaGal. You’re right. $900 is what I prepaid for my cremation. It’s just to be cremated only. There’s no memorial service, urn, burial plot, visitation, casket, ect.
We just had my Dad cremated and it was like 900 bucks. My grandmother died about 5 years ago and she was cremated and it cost about the same but we put her ashes and a stone next to my grandfather.
For my Dad my mom just put his ashes in an Elvis bust she already had. He loved Elvis. His dad died about 2 years ago. He lived a long time. He donated his body to science and that didn’t cost anything.
It used to be a thing in the uk where, when folk leave their body to medical schools for dissection, the medical students would attend the funeral along with the deceased family once the dissection was finished
