Do you have OCD?

Aspergers is the same thing as high functioning autism, correct? Correct me if I’m wrong; I don’t know much about aspergers.

I sometimes believe I might have high functioning autism. I have a lot of problems socially (which could definitely just be caused by my schizophrenia).

I have an “obsession” with the texture of sponges. I don’t know what to call it besides an obsession, but the texture just makes me extremely happy.

Then I have textures I absolutely hate that give me bad goosebumps, like scratching certain carpet textures.

I get overstimulated pretty easily, especially in crowds or loud areas.

A lot of the symptoms of autism I have though could just as easily be caused by schizophrenia, so that’s most likely what causes them.

I think they’re related. I don’t have autism. I think Aspergers is slightly different. You’re right could be just schizophrenia. Did you have those symptoms since childhood? If so, could be something to look into.

Yes, I’ve had them since childhood, but I assumed the overstimulation and problems with socializing were just the warning signs that I missed with schizophrenia.

I still think it’s more likely a part of my schizophrenia. I was just saying I have symptoms that are shared with some of those with autism.

I looked it up, and I think they are different, but they are on the same spectrum.

I have Sza with obsessive features. I don’t think I’ve ever had compulsions. My obsession is around one theme. Impending thoughts of homelessness. Well, maybe I do of compulsions because I’ve slept in my Tahoe even though I have a perfectly good apartment. Also, I look up hobbies that I could do if I were homeless.

I can bug the heck out of my gramma and mom about that. But Prozac helps. I think it’s more common that we think.

Yeah, I think someone in this thread previously said that Prozac helps, but, unless absolutely needed, I don’t want to take any extra medication.

luvox, prozac, zoloft, paxil and anafranil are good meds for ocd, should you ever choose to look into getting onto one of them. atleast one study showed anafranil to be the absolute most effective for ocd, but it is riskier in overdose and tends to have more side effects and interactions as its an older med

Thanks for the tip. I’ll keep that in kind if I ever take medication for OCD.

I do have an OCD when it comes to cleaning.

Wow, it sounds almost exactly like the thoughts Alien puts in my head all my life ever since I got sick. You’ll get sick if you don’t do this/that etc. Wow. But i never got diagnosed with OCD though.

Yeah, I’m not diagnosed either, but I suspect I have it.

Your belief that aliens are the ones putting them in your head sounds more like it’s caused by a psychotic disorder, but the actual thoughts themselves could possibly be OCD.

I agree with you.
