Sometimes I start to dream about a better life. I look at google maps on different places and fantasize about living a good life in another part of the country, or maybe even another country.

I used to want to get away before, but then I realized I can’t move away from my mind.

I suppose it could be useful to get away to somewhere else if one experienced something traumatic in the current environment though.

Yes I’d like to immerse in the Japanese nation and culture for a couple years. Sadly, people there are mostly workaholics and I wouldn’t be able to keep up. But if I had enough money, I’d live with a family of natives, pay a rent and only do small chores around the house. All those while visiting their temples, shrines, castles, gardens, izakaya’s etc.

I tried to learn the Japanese language, but the writing system - kanji - was too much of a stumbling block…

My advice for someone who is stuck somewhere is to accept it and try to like it. I lived in a place I disliked and it was painful like the city hated me back.

When I was married to my first husband, I wanted to move far away and start over. But in reality, Michigan almost never lets a parent take a child out of state, so I’d have to give up custody. No way!!! I stayed and worked out a better life right here in Michigan

I used to look at what the climates were, where the least natural disaster’s are, rainfall, etc. Then I realized the housing market was going to go haywire eventually back in 2014 and started dreaming about coming back home to buy a house. Never got to that point but I’m happy here.
