Do you have good memories?

When we become older, we still have our memories. I have many good memories. For example, in the end of the 1980’s I danced with a woman in a disco and they played this song. I think I have more good memories than bad ones.

I dated some pretty women; those are some good memories. 1990-95 were very productive years for me and I have good memories of that time. It’s been a slow, almost imperceptible, downhill slide since then (in a way) but I still have some good memories.

Nothing saying you can’t make more good memories now.

Trips to GA, NC, DC, Disney World, and the FL and SC coasts are among my favorite memories. I liked Atlanta, camping along the river in NC, and white water rafting, seeing the sights in DC, sitting along the ocean shore in FL and SC, being a kid again in Disney World (my niece had cancer and my step-father at the time was willing to bring me because I helped take care of her. She’s fine now.), eating at a Chinese restaurant in NC, and playing video games at Dave’s and Buster’s. In spite of schizophrenia I made something of my 20’s and 30’s with the help of my family.

I have some good memories. Some of the backpacking trips my friends and I went on were a lot of fun. My memories of the good times when I was drinking are very pleasant, but that is bad. It is called “euphoric recall”, and it is a potent enemy of sobriety.

I have a lot of fond memories, both old and fresh.
Sometimes a random song or smell will trigger some of those memories, and I enjoy that.

I have warm memories of my grandmother, about growing up, traveling,…

I also have difficult memories of psychosis and other health issues. My dad also tried to toughen me up during my childhood which wasn’t appreciated.

Never too late to make good new ones. I went for a walk this morning and the sun was shining. Sometimes the little things are the best things.

@Jonathan2 yes, I agree that little things can make us happy. Just riding my bicycle when the sun is shining is great, although we still have a lot of snow here.

Hmm, tbh with you, my memories aren’t all that special. There’s never really been special moments, especially not with women - only because by the time I hit the age I was interested, I started to develop schizophrenia so unfortunately; I’m inexperienced and don’t have any memories of relationships.

As far as friendships go, I do have memories of okay times, but for the most part, psychosis ruined a lot of it. Just as I was growing into a social butterfly, psychosis messed it all up and so I usually see the people I created those memories with as bad because they never stuck with me.

I have good memories, yes

Mainly around the time I was well and studying Medicine at university of Liverpool - I was very popular and had some great conversations early in the morning hours with people from around the world - Libya, Italy, France, Saudi Arabia etc…

We also used to party quite often - I really enjoyed the night life and music aspect of nights out

You are right, I can still make more good memories. When I’ll be 86, 30 years from now, I can try to remember all kinds of good memories. I am just wondering how the Internet develops in the future. I remember using the BITNET (the Internet between educational and other organizations) in the autumn of 1989 when I studied in Michigan. I think that we shall experience the evolution of the communication systems in next 30 years. 56 is not too old, I suppose. My mother is 80 years old and she uses the net to pay bills, read emails, watch any news and so on.

My best memories involve me being on stage, performing. Usually singing, but there were a couple of times I did ballroom dance.

Also: going to concerts, taking painting classes, being in writing classes/workshops.

Obsessing/deconstructing films and books and shows.

A lot of these memories – most of them, actually – were created with friends.

I miss being onstage, and am taking steps to lead me back to that. If it’s possible – I’m 50 y.o. I’m trying to reach out to my friends, but I’m going through this horrible period where I can’t speak that well. I don’t know if it’s my meds, or something else. I struggle in therapy. Last week was good, this week – less good. It’s like my paranoia/monsters/voices will not let me continue on a successful streak.

One of my best memories is from my childhood when I crafted a raft and used it to navigate up and down the creek in my back yard.

I have lots of good memories. And some traumatic ones, too, but I try to not think about that stuff.

For good memories, I had a fun childhood. My siblings and I weren’t well supervised, which isn’t much of a good thing, but we had tons of fun… like jumping off the roof of the house, onto a trampoline. We went camping every summer. We went to Nova Scotia, Canada, every summer, where we had a beach connected to our property, a creek, a forest, and a meadow. We went to Maui, Hawaii, when I was 8. We went to London, England, when I was 12. We went to New York City a few times.

I had a pretty adventurous childhood.

I met my husband when I was 21. I have so many good memories with him. I’m 30 now. We used to be very spontaneous, randomly going camping on a weeknight and waking up really early for work the next day, lol. That was before we both became chronically ill. We have gone to San Antonio (TX), Disney World, Disneyland, Montana, Idaho, Seattle (WA), Colorado (specifically to go to the Red Rock Amphitheater, for a concert that was epic)…

We like to explore and see new places. We are both disabled now, but we still try to have fun when we can.
