Do you have any budgeting tips?

I’m rubbish with money, I spend too much on eating out, coffee shops, takeaways.

I have a budget from the court appointed person who manages my money, he pays £125 a week. £500 a month, he pays all my other bills his end…

My outgoings are per month… should be!

£100 to £120 on food shopping
£250 a month savings
£117 to £137 eating out/coffees/takeaways /amazon prime/Netflix
£13 a month bank account fees

I seem to spend all £500 without savings in a month and then go into my overdraft… I can I learn to be more responsible with my money…

Put the amount you want to save away into it’s own account the minute you get paid. Then you’re free to spend the rest.

You seem to spend a lot on food shopping.

I have online banking with my bank, so setting that up might help, as well.

I have just implement that… Pay £62.50 a week into another current account.

That’s great! That should work. Stay away from the other account and let the savings build up.

I’m doing okay thank you. Hope you are keeping well.

I’m very bad with money. I will never use the stock market again. I have addiction issues and executive functioning issues. I cannot work or go to school. The only advice I have is from Franklin: “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

If you are spending that much on groceries maybe going out to eat less often and make coffee at home.
My main thing is making a menu every week and buy according to that.
I also buy meat from the discounted meat section and freeze it when I get home.
As you see your money dwindle start cutting back. I know it’s hard to stay in a budget but it is possible.
My dad always told me to pay the bills first and then you know what you can spend.
I’m by no means telling you what to do. A few years ago I ruined my finances while manic. Now I’m just getting back on my feet.
These are just a few things I changed to help not overspending.

Overall I’m doing fine. Was a bit anxious earlier because there was forceful ,loud knocking .
It had to be on the entrance door. This place has an intercom system so why someone would keep knocking is a bit strange .

I normally divide it into “money for bills” “money to save” and “money for fun”

Basically set aside what you need for bills then split the rest between fun and savings

I hate using my credit card to pay for things cos I lose touch with how much I’m spending and plus I get scared if people know my bank details and are spending on my card on stuff I usually pay for aswell…
So
I take out a budget amount each week for food
And
That’s it
The rest I leave in there and if I use my card for something else I keep the receipts so I can keep proof to myself of wat I’ve spent wen I see my bank statement

It hasn’t always worked out when I binge eat and go crazy on my credit card… Lose track… Just focusing on stuffing my face…
