I was asking Google the non-emergency police number and where the ER was. I talked to the police about the ER and if they can help with Sz. I then was asking google which bus stop was closest to the ER. I asked Google to turn off Wi-Fi calls so the police department could see where I was and they did. Google finally by it self asked me if I wanted an EMS alert sent out for my address. I think someone is monitoring me when I’m delusional. I found this unnerving. I have an iPhone now. Does Siri do the same thing? Maybe it was the guy at the police station doing this with my phone.
Siri seems to be asking me more questions than Google does, but I haven’t had an iPhone very long.
Everything is gps if you allow it. It’ll usually ask you but the basics are probably doing it anyways. Modern world but it’s nice to me that the military let out the tech to the people to do gps. It saves lives too.
Thanks @rogueone I was mainly concerned if the police department could locate me if I don’t know where I am on the way to the ER. Someone told me to turn off the wifi for them to see your location. Maybe you don’t have to do that anymore if it’s gps now. When I’m on wifi the webpages think I’m in California for some reason.
Yes, I find the whole way we use technology scary. I don’t have a smartphone, never used Siri, would get nervous having Alexa in my home and I hate that we put camera’s everywhere. Not because I’m paranoid and think I personally am monitored - I am not that special. But because I understand that it can be used in bad ways too, in general. I dislike this development and think - even if there are a few good uses - that we need to think a whole lot better about the society we are creating with this. And the risks.
Thanks @anon4136120 It only bothers me if I don’t know who it is. I doesn’t bother me if it’s the police or fire department.
Yes, that makes a difference. And I can understand how it causes paranoia.
I find all AI to be on the spooky slope.
I find AI to be unnerving. I’m always being watched and followed and AI makes doing that to me even easier
Thanks @LilyoftheValley @Sherlock
I have Alexa. I don’t worry about it tracking me because half the time she doesn’t understand what I’m asking.
I can ask her to turn off the light and she turns off the tv.
Thanks @anon4362788 I’m not sure what Alexa is. I set Siri to be a guy instead of a woman. It asked me to pick a voice I liked out of the blue. I didn’t ask it to do that.
This is another thing I do that aggravates my sister. She said I shouldn’t be talking to AI bots and should turn it off.
I don’t know how to use Siri or Google.
I would love to learn how.
I have a iPhone.
How do I use Siri on my phone.
I spoke to her to open google but nothing….
On my iPhone SE you push and hold down the home button at the bottom of the phone. I’m not sure if the newest ones work the same way.
