In Japan they have hotels all operated by human looking robots, no human working there. Would you be scared to be in such an hotel? I watched Avengers Ultron where AI robots tried to take over humanity and destroy earth. Can AI robots be dangerous if hacked and controlled by bad people?
yea robots when they are humanoid creep me out.
I would not want to go to a hotel without people running it. So many opportunities to rape etc.
I don’t think AI will ever take over
Robots are definitely creepy but I don’t fear them.
First of all, there are no AGI ( artificial general intelligence) robots yet revealed to the public. We don’t even understand fruit fly brains yet, let alone human brains.
Second, yes, even if we did have an AGI, robots would still be too hackable for many applications. Think of how long the human body and immune system has adapted to resist intruders like viruses, bacteria, and parasites invading us and bypassing our brains. I believe humans will never be advanced enough to make that work in robots.
Elon Musk says humans are underrated. I believe that’s a true statement.
I had issues with AI but it just gives ideas
I used to have robot voices off meds, they gave me commands of doing bad and dangerous stuff.
Hmmmm…
I mean, we’ve got robots building cars and other stuff (just watch How It’s Made and you’ll see them at work).
I’m not worried about robots or robotic technologies.
However, I am a bit leery about the human operators of said robots, and their end-goals.
Wide margin of error wherever humans are involved, not to mention robots can be built to hurt other humans (think: war).
AI is a relatively nascent technology, but could have serious ramifications if it were to be used for nefarious purposes.
I think it all depends on who holds the technology.
I was a robot operator at a Japanese company most of last year, and the year before that. I have a BS in computer science. I have an associate degree in electronics, with industrial specialization including robotics and other forms of industrial automation. I was also an associate manufacturing engineer at a Japanese company, and programmed automated processes.
I don’t know how much you know about the topic; but, you might be surprised at how stupid those manufacturing robots are. Many times, they require frequent readjustment and reprogramming by qualified humans.
People talk about them asking for no time off. Nonsense. Our robots broke so often that if I had taken that much sick time, I would have been fired.
I think the decision makers have simply watched too many terminator movies, and engineers who know better tell them what they want to hear.
There’s talks of AI that will be much smarter than humans and it might get sentient and develop new, smarter AI and than that AI will develop even smarter Ai with intelligence exponentially smarter and it will just keep making smarter and smarter AI and humans will be left far behind.
Well, for specific tasks, sure we can build something smarter than a human. I can’t perform a billion sequential arithmetic calculations in a second, building on top of each other, without making a mistake.
For general tasks like day to day survival, resisting hacks, and such, I’m still waiting on an AGI as smart as a fruit fly.
Yeah, I see your point. What I was trying to say is that once there is the technology to make smart AI than it can in turn keep making new AI that will be infinitely smarter.
I fear people are soulless robots
Well, if we succeed in making an AGI as smart as a fruit fly, then eventually work our way up to something as smart as a human (but more hackable) and then somehow manage to make something smarter than the human who made it, I guess it may follow that if it is smarter than the human who made it, it would by definition be able to make something smarter than itself. So, I think I see your point.
Not yet, but that won’t keep me from further attempts.
I’m kept alive by implanted tech and I have an artificial joint. I love my tech toys, too. Tech makes my life more fun. Gimme my robot.
Does this robot offer other services?
Cough!
I pity all robots after the downfall of man there will be nothing for them to do
The Avengers Ultron movie is purely an action science fiction story which depicts A.I. robots in a narrative story. Robots or 机器人 (ji-qi-ren) in Chinese are supposed to relieve mundane and boring tasks that a human would would usually do. With the advent of China’s Huawei (华为) 5G which is different from American 5G wireless technology, autonomous transit buses & taxi’s are now operating within the major cities in China such as Beijing (北京) & Shanghai (上海).
Artificial Intelligence or 人工智能 (ren-gong-zhi-neng) is a supposedly a combination of software code, Internet cloud and smart devices all working in tandem to learn a routine and adapt to that function.
For example, iRobot offers a new Roomba vacuum that has a sort of computer vision that sees obstacles and recognizable objects in its path. With this so called A.I., the iRobot J7+ can steer clear of say “dog poop” or tangled wires in its cleaning path.
Military robots such as this one pictured below need to distinguish between friend & foe otherwise a battlefield cannot afford to have a military robot target its own infantry units.
The A.I. software is not advanced enough to truly segregate enemies from allies yet. But yes, there probably is a wide margin of error when prototyping and testing these units in a simulated battlefield exercise.
One of my voices was a satanic AI, after reading some things on here they dont really seem scary.
