Do you experienc negative smptoms?

Hi all. Ive noticed from comments before that there are ppl out there who take antipsychotics but dont experience negatove symptoms. They are cognitively fine and are able to experience motivation and dont experience anhedonia and apathy. Is this true. Please verify if you are one of these people.

Im thinking of switching medications to find something that dosnt make me cognitively declined and that dosnt give me apathy and anhedonia. I just want to enjoy life again.

Oh, I probably have only mild negatives. I’ve been doing much better ever since being diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency and getting it treated.

A nurse practitioner ordered a blood test on my vitamin D, and it came back clinically low. It seems like doctors don’t think to check for things like this.

I have spent the last three decades pushing back against pronounced negative symptoms. To me it feels like being part of a relay team. The neurotypicals all run normally while I have to drag a piano behind me when it’s my turn, yet meet or beat their times that they achieved without a significant handicap.

So much more stylish

I tend to get depressed, and my mind doesn’t work well because of it. I’m also slowing down due to age. Also being in pain because of my arthritis isn’t helping either.

I think everyone experiences them. Build a plan and work on them. The rut is worse. And the depression. They overlap. Get on some AD and control it with your natural ability

When you control the depression, SZ aint that hard.

Fuggen Pdocs forget about depression and anxiety when they think they cornered the SZ with APs. Their biggest mistake. Control the SZ and they done their job. Fuuck them. Learn what fuels it.

Life is what you make it to be.

@anon54988740 are you on antipsychotics?

Risperidone is ■■■■ for negative symptoms. I reduced my dose from 6 to 5mg and today only took 4mg. Feeling edgy and paranoid a bit, like feeling that some ppl I know are psychopaths and are trying to hurt me or take advantage of me.

Yes, I am. I take 15mg Abilify and 60mg of Cymbalta, a AD. My pdoc tried 5mg Abilify, but I started hallucinating and got delusional on a dose that low.

I’m in the grip of negative symptoms today. I’m in the doldrums. But my case manager came by and told me to clean up my room, and after much procrastination, I cleaned up the cat litter box. Now I feel a little better.

@anon54988740 do you experience pleasure. Do you have motivation. Are you cognitively fine? I want to hear from ppl that are on antipsychotics like yourself and dosnt experience negative symptoms or there small. It gives me hope that i can find an antipsychotic that wont give me negative symptoms and cognitive decline.

I feel like I want to scream and rage on just 4mg risperidone.

Of course there is ppl on APs doing well even on the shittiest APs. There was a guy here in medschool who was on 6mg Risperidone. I am on 6mg Risperidone and can’t even think or get out of bed. Don’t compare yourself to others, you will only feel like ■■■■.

Well I feel happy now when my arthritis isn’t hurting, and since getting my depression resolved I’m motivated to do things, normally after having a cup of coffee in the morning. My cognitive abilities were good back in my 40’s and 50’s, but are slowing some in my 60’s, mainly memory. The best change was when I switched to Abilify and was no longer sedated like I was on Risperdal. Zyprexa wasn’t as sedating, but I was still sedated on it too compared to Abilify.

I came down with diabetes while on Zyprexa, and my pdoc took me off of it. He said Zyprexa was like eating chocolate cake with the diabetes. He put me on Risperdal because Abilify was too expensive at the time. Abilify was the one he wanted to use on me though. The price of Abilify just came down in 2020, so I switched to it.

@anon54988740 so did you experience negative symptoms on risperidone and zyprexa but you not experiencing them on abilify. What do you mean by sedated. Do you just mean you were sleepy a lot or you had no energy?

I’m on a pretty high dose of Wellbutrin and it doesn’t do much for the negs. Keeps me from being suicidal, which is the important thing. Therapy has helped me deal with the negs and stay functional on a daily basis.

By sedated I mean being zombie like. Not having much to think about or doing much. I had energy but didn’t feel like doing anything. I slept a lot, like twelve or fourteen hours a day. I also took Klonopin for anxiety.

@anon54988740 you givemme hope that i can find a med that wont make me feel zombie like. However i felt.zombie.like on both abilify and risperidone. Im a tey seroquel and see if that does the trick. Im thinking of trying rexulti as well as ive heard good things about that too.
