Negative symptoms are crap

I reduced my meds but they did not improve. I am pissed I feel like its permanent damage from APs, damaged dopamine receptors. it seems that they only improve when i get positive symptoms. no way out

I remember 10 years ago I was on risperidone same as now but my negative symptoms were a lot better. I wonder if negatives get worse with time from sz or if its the APs that caused brain damage, what do you think @Bowens ?

I cleaned up the subject line a bit.

I don’t know. Its all very complex and uncertain. I think long term AP use can cause brain tissue loss. Some of it may depend on which AP though. Some also say that untreated psychosis can cause brain damage too though. Plus there is the risk of psychosis if you arent on APs so, its all determining whats worse, I guess.

I don’t know if the brain tissue loss makes negatives worse or not. I think some of it for sure is dopamine issues though.

My philosophy has been, for a long time, to be on the minimum dose of aps to control psychosis for a couple reasons. 1. So you can minimize any side effects, including brain tissue loss. 2. So you can minimize any secondary negative symptoms caused by AP’s.

As for negatives getting worse with time from sz, they used to say they did. I don’t think they are sure anymore. It may depend on the individual and their particular situation.
I don’t think alot of this stuff is certain.

Just as a side note, I feel I am now getting into pc games a bit more since I switched to min dose of AP several weeks ago. Wellbutrin prescription in 2 days.

I hope this answered your questions. I kind of typed it out quickly and went with the first draft.

Sorry @Aziz i did try replying straight after but there was a error message

All i wanted to put was i struggle with all those too and it is hard to manage, i think its a combo of illness and definitely anhedonia is worse from meds. Aww the anhedonia is bad

I’m not generally big into first person shooters and the like. I more like strategy/simulation type stuff.

I’m playing a game called “Space Haven” atm. Before that I was playing “Rimworld”. They are both similar types of games.
